
Women's Basketball Season Ends in ACC Tournament

The Syracuse women's basketball team (12-18, 6-13 ACC) fell to Boston College (16-16, 7-12 ACC) during the first round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon. The Orange end their season unable to hold on to a 19-point lead against the Eagles, dropping two of three contests to BC this season.

Sophie Burrows led Syracuse in scoring, recording 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting and three makes from beyond the arc. Burrows recorded 20+ points for the fourth time this year, last posting 21 points against Pitt on Feb. 27. Georgia Woolley (16 points) and Kyra Wood (15 points) also scored in double figures for the Orange. Wood had 11 points in the first quarter, the most in a quarter for her this season.

Boston College was paced in scoring by a career-best performance from Dontavia Waggoner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange took the first half by storm, as Kyra Wood opened scoring in the contest before 6-0 and 8-0 runs from Syracuse gave a 12-point advantage six minutes into the first frame. Wood had 11 points in the first quarter on 5-of-6 shooting, along with three rebounds. SU extended their lead to as much as 19 points in the second frame, taking a 45-28 lead into the halftime break.
Boston College marched back early in the third quarter, opening the second half with a 19-4 run to cut the lead back to single digits. BC outscored 'Cuse 28-15 in the third frame, cutting the Orange lead to just four entering the final 10 minutes. Two buckets from the Eagles tied the game up for the first time since 8:56 in the first quarter, before Syracuse would respond with a 6-0 run to regain the lead. Boston College clawed their way back, taking their first lead of the game with 1:27 left to play and ending Syracuse's season with a 76-73 loss.
