STANFORD, Calif. – For the second time in program history, the No. 56 ranked Syracuse women's tennis team (8-4, 1-4 ACC) met with No. 32 Stanford (8-2, 1-0 ACC). The Orange fell short at the Taube Tennis Center on Friday, 4-1.

Syracuse competed against three ITA ranked singles opponents and one ITA ranked doubles team. The Cardinal's Valencia Xu, who is ranked by ITA at No. 68, clinched the match for Stanford at the No. 3 position.

THE RUNDOWN

Constance Levivier and Anastasia Sysoeva returned to the No. 2 doubles position, winning their match 6-3. This is the duo's second time playing together and second win earned.
At No. 1 singles, No. 90 Miyuka Kimoto competed against No. 20 Connie Ma but fell short, 6-1, 6-2. This is the third time Kimoto has faced a top-20 ITA ranked opponent.
Knezkova lost to No. 6 Valerie Glozman,6-1, 6-1, but she is still tied with Monika Wojcik with a team-best eight singles wins. Knezkova has gone up against two top-15 ITA ranked opponents this season.
Shiori Ito added a point for the Orange after defeating Morgan Shaffer 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 6 spot. Ito has now played at four different singles positions for 'Cuse.
Serafima Shastova and Wojcik both saw their matches go unfinished.
Stanford now leads the all-time series 2-0 and improves to 6-0 at home.
