
Orange Travel To West Coast For Doubleheader Weekend

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Get ready for an action-packed weekend as the No. 56 ITA ranked women's tennis team (8-3, 1-3 ACC) go to The Golden State for two matchups. To start, the Orange will face No. 32 Stanford (7-2, 0-0 ACC) on Friday, March 7 at 4 p.m. EST.
Following Stanford's match, Syracuse will play No. 72 California (2-4, 0-0 ACC) on Saturday, March 8 at 3 p.m. EST. Syracuse has only met each team once before in program history.

ABOUT THE ORANGE
- Syracuse is coming off a 10-11 campaign last spring. The Orange returned four players from last year's team this fall and welcomed two newcomers.
- Miyuka Kimoto is back for her senior year with the Orange after racking up 11 doubles and 10 singles victories in the spring. She earned her first ACC Player of the Week Award last March and was tabbed No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) preseason singles rankings.
- Also back as a senior for the Orange is Shiori Ito, who checked in at No. 44 in the ITA's preseason doubles rankings alongside Kimoto. She has won 31 career dual singles contests and to go along with her 27 doubles victories.
- Anastasia Sysoeva returns for her second year with 'Cuse as a junior. In her debut campaign last year, she finished with a 12-6 record in singles, which included six wins against ACC opponents.
- Another returning junior for the Orange is Constance Levivier, who tallied six wins last spring across singles and doubles.
- Syracuse welcomes two fresh faces this fall - Nelly Knezkova and Serafima Shastova. Knezkova earned All-Big West Second Team honors in singles last season at Hawaii, where she played the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. In her one year at Jacksonville State, Shastova won 12 singles contests on her way to earning First Team All-ASUN and ASUN Freshman of the Year honors.
- Joining the Orange for the Spring season are two freshmen, Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim.
- Head coach Younes Limam returns for his 11th season at the helm of the Orange. Jacqueline Calla is in her second season as an assistant coach.
- The Orange broke the Seminoles eight-match winning-streak after a 4-3 victory on Sunday.
- New doubles pairing Constance Leviver and Anastasia Sysoeva made an appearance winning their first doubles match together, 6-3.
- Serafima Shastova and Monika Wojcik clinched the doubles point for the Orange. This was the seventh time this season Syracuse has won the doubles point.Â
- Knezkova clinched the match at the No. 2 position in singles after losing the first set, 7-5, winning in a tiebreak in the second, 7-6 (6), and the third 6-3. Knezkova was the last person playing and was the determining factor if the Orange won or lost the match.
- Syracuse gained its first conference win.
- On Tuesday, ITA ranked Miyuka Kimoto at No. 90 in singles, Kimoto and Knezkova No. 55 in doubles, Shastova and Wojcik No.74 in doubles. The overall team rank is now No. 55.
- Syracuse is 41-20 in singles in its first 11 matches. Â
- The Orange have at least six wins at five different singles positions
- Ito, Levivier and Shastova have competed at three different singles positions this season.
- Knezkova has the team-best eight wins in singles. Wojcik follows with seven, then Ito with six. All eight of Knezkova'a wins have come from the Nos. 1 and 2 positions.
- Syracuse has played 12 different doubles pairings this season.
- Knezkova, Sysoeva and Wojcik each have seven doubles wins to pace the Orange.
- The Orange have won seven out of eleven doubles points since losing to James Madison on Jan. 25.
- Overall, Syracuse is 20-10 in doubles play this season with 11 of 12 pairings having contributed at least one victory.
- Kimoto and Knezkova earned ACC Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
- Kimoto and Knezkova were ranked No. 55 in doubles by ITA alongside Shastova and Wojcick who ranked No. 74 on Tuesday, March 4.
- Syracuse freshmen Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim are 17-5 across doubles and singles this season.
- Wojcik is 7-2 in singles and has won a trio of sets with a 6-0 score.
- Kim made her college debut in the Fordham match, winning at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-3.
- Wojick was awarded ACC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 4 after competing against Drexel. She won her first ever three-set singles match, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
- Stanford begins their season with an overall record of 7-2 in non-conference play. Syracuse will be their first test in ACC competition.Â
- Three Stanford players made it into ITA's rankings on Tuesday, March 4. Freshman Valerie Glozman (No. 6), senior Connie Ma (No. 20) and senior Valencia Xu (No.68).
- Doubles pairing Connie Ma and Valerie Glozman ranked No. 37 in ITA's polls.
- Stanford is on a three-match winning streak and is 5-0 at home.
- Syracuse and Stanford have only met once before in program history. Stanford leads all-time series 1-0.
- The Golden Bears will face Pepperdine Thursday, March 6 followed by Boston College on Friday, March 7 before competing against Syracuse on Saturday, March 8. BC will be their first conference match.
- California has only won one out of seven doubles points so far this season.
- ITA ranked doubles duo No. 16 Mao Mushika and Katja Wiersholm and No. 77 Katja Wiersholm and Jessica Alsola.
- Four players are recognized in ITA's singles updated ranking on March 4: Mao Mushika at No. 40, Katja Wiersholm at No. 46, Lan Mi at No. 86 and Greta Greco Lucchina at No. 110.
- The last time Syracuse played California was in 1995 falling short, 7-1.
