SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse softball team (24-19, 3-15 ACC) returns home for the first time since March 30 to host its second-to-last conference series of the season against Boston College (21-23, 5-13 ACC) this weekend (April 25-27) at Skytop Softball Stadium. The Orange are back in action on their home field following an 11-game road swing over the past month.
The series will begin on Friday, April 25 with a 3 p.m. contest, followed by 3 p.m. and 12 p.m. first pitches on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27. All three contests will air live on ACCN+.
ORANGE UPDATE:
'Cuse enters the series against Boston College in 15th place in the ACC standings. The Orange are three games back of 12th-place Pittsburgh, which currently holds the final spot in the ACC Tournament field with six conference wins. Boston College sits just ahead of Syracuse in 13th place, with five ACC victories entering the weekend.
The last time the Orange took the field, they swept a doubleheader at UAlbany in their final nonconference games of the season, winning 6-0 and 6-2. Madelyn Lopez recorded a career-high four hits to lead Syracuse to a shutout victory in the opener. In game two, Vanessa Flores got the Orange started with a two-run home run, setting the tone for a 6-2 win and the sweep.
Through 43 games, Madelyn Lopez has led the Orange offense, batting .443 (54-for-122) with 26 runs, 24 RBIs, and two home runs — all team highs. Tessa Galipeau (.323), Angie Ramos (.314), and Jadyn Burney (.301) have also been steady contributors, each hitting over .300 this season. Ramos has been a consistent run producer, with 20 RBIs, second only to Lopez.
Kelly Breen is the only player to appear in all 43 games for Syracuse this season. The senior has been a fixture in the Orange lineup throughout her four-year career and is putting together one of her strongest campaigns yet. She is currently batting .290, on pace for a career high, while adding 19 RBIs and 16 runs. A steady presence in the infield, Breen has split time between third base and shortstop this year.
In the circle, Julianna Verni and Madison Knight have handled most of Syracuse's pitching duties, combining for 208 of the team's 280 innings. The duo has recorded 166 strikeouts, with Knight's 97 ranking 10th in the ACC.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Boston College enters the weekend with a 21-23 record, including a 5-13 mark in ACC play. The Eagles are coming off back-to-back wins, having ended their last ACC series against Clemson with a 5-2 victory on Saturday, April 19. They then beat Merrimack, 8-0, on Wednesday, April 23 in midweek action.
BC is led at the plate by Jordan Stephens, who is hitting a team-high .373 with 50 hits in 134 at-bats. She has also driven in a team-leading 33 runs to go along with 25 runs scored.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST BOSTON COLLEGE
This weekend's series will mark the 37th, 38th, and 39th all-time meetings between the Orange and the Eagles, with BC holding a 22 to 14 advantage in wins over Syracuse.
The last time the two programs met was on May 8, 2024, in the first round of the ACC Tournament. In the loss, Boston College broke open a scoreless game in the top of the fourth inning. Catcher Hannah Slike doubled to lead off the frame, and third baseman Nicole Giery followed with a two base hit to drive in the only run.

Syracuse will close the regular season against Cal next weekend (May 2-4). All three games will be broadcast live on ACCN+, with game one scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday.
