Wide receiver Johntay Cook enters his first season with the Syracuse football team as a member of the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List.
The award is presented annually to the nation's top offensive collegiate player, who is from or plays in the state of Texas, and demonstrates the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity.
Cook, who hails from DeSoto, Texas and played his high school football at DeSoto, transferred to Syracuse this summer. He previously appeared in 20 games over two seasons at Texas, where he has 16 collegiate receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns.
As a freshman in 2023, he appeared in every game, including the College Football Playoff, making eight catches for 136 yards. Texas won the Big XII in their final season in the conference. Last season, Cook caught eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns, once again helping the Longhorns reach the College Football Playoff.
A high school All-American, Cook was the nation's No. 5 ranked wideout in the class of 2023 by Rivals, also earning a spot on the top-10 receivers list from ESPN and 247Sports as a recruit.
Syracuse begins the 2025 season in the Aflac Kickoff game in Atlanta vs. Tennessee. Tickets are still available at Cuse.com/AflacKickoff. The Orange will play back-to-back home games following the season opener in Atlanta. Tickets for all games in the JMA Wireless Dome are on sale now at Cuse.com/FootballTickets! Lock your seats in today, as limited inventory remains in the lower bowl of the stadium.
