EASTON, Pa. – Down 2-1 at halftime, Syracuse University field hockey ripped off four unanswered goals to storm past Lafayette 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Rappoly Field.

Ally Snyder had a career day with two goals, including the game-winning strike, while Bo van Kempen scored three times, including two penalty corner goals. Jesse Eiselin and Tane King split time in goal as the former made two saves in the opening quarter while King stopped one in the fourth.

Now 6-0, Syracuse is off to its best start since the 2017 season when the Orange opened the season 7-0.

The Leopards (3-3) put the Orange on their heels for the first time this season as Josephine van Wijk scored early. Rosalie van Gool gave Lafayette a second lead on a penalty corner goal with assists from Lea Good and Katie Gibb. Raffi Fragomeni made eight saves for the Leopards.

How it Happened

Lafayette got on the board first, on van Wijk's goal in the second minute, the first time this season the Orange have trailed.Van Wijk scored on a loose ball in front of the Orange goal.
Syracuse leveled the match five minutes later on a perfectly executed penalty corner with Strunk on the insert, trapped by Hamilton and fired home by van Kempen, her 12th of the season.
The Orange had a chance to take a lead late in the first quarter as Turner ripped a shot but that chance clanged off the crossbar, ending the first quarter 1-1.
Looking to regain the lead early in the second quarter, Turner had a similar opportunity and cashed in, but after an official's review, the goal was disallowed.
Lafayette took a 2-1 lead with five minutes left in the second quarter on a penalty corner scored by van Gool and assisted by Lea Good and Katie Gibb. That score held up through the remainder of the first half.
Three and a half minutes into the third quarter, van Kempen converted her first penalty stroke of the day to tie the game for a second time, this time at 2-2.
After another three minutes, Snyder got a transition goal on the doorstep as Drabick slotted a pass in to put the Orange up 3-2.
Van Kempen put up her second penalty stroke goal of the day to double up the 'Cuse lead at 5-2 four minutes into the fourth quarter. Snyder added an insurance goal in the 53rd minute for a 5-2 advantage.
