
'Cuse to Begin Fall Play at Villanova/UD Invite

The Syracuse women's tennis team is set to kick off its fall season at the Villanova/UD Invite this weekend. The tournament is set to begin Friday Sept. 19 and run until Sunday Sept. 21.

The Format
The tournament will be hosted by both Villanova University and the University of Delaware. Matches will be played at both sites throughout the weekend.

Meet the Orange
Syracuse welcomes back a familiar squad, with six of last year's players returning to the court. Sophomore Monika Wojcik lead the team last year with 12 singles victories and 11 doubles wins. She collected a 5-1 ACC record in singles in her freshman year.

Serafima Shastova returns for her second season at Syracuse. In her sophomore season, she had 12 wins in the singles column. Partnered with Wojcick, the duo had eight wins together.

Junior Nelly Knezkova followed up with 10 singles wins on the season and seven doubles. She played at top spot in seven singles matches last season and on the first court for doubles in 15 matchups.

Haram Kim is entering her sophomore year with the Orange. She collected two wins in her first season at the six spot, defeating her opponents from Fordham in a 7-5, 6-3 match and Drexel 6-4, 6-2.

Constance Levivier is going into her senior season and her third year with the Orange. Levivier held four singles wins, including two at the fourth singles spot.Â

Senior Anastasia Sysoeva is back after appearing in 19 matches last season in both singles and doubles play. In doubles action, she collected nine wins, six of which were at the second court.
