After leading the Syracuse football team to erase a double-digit deficit in the final-six minutes of regulation against UConn, quarterback Steve Angeli is one of the Manning Award stars of the week.
Angeli threw for 417 yards, which is the ninth-most passing yards in a single game in program history, connecting on 33-of-53 passes. He hit Justus Ross-Simmons on a 53-yard touchdown pass with 5:41 left in regulation to pull 'Cuse within five. Then, he marched the team 80 yards on the ensuing possession to take the lead.
After the Huskies sent the game to overtime with a field goal in the waning seconds, Angeli delivered a six-yard strike to Ross-Simmons again for the eventual game-winning score.
Angeli and the Orange return to the JMA Wireless Dome on Friday night to host Colgate. Tickets are available at Cuse.com/FootballTickets.
