After both Syracuse cross country teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors this week, seven student-athletes were named to the All-ACC Academic Team on Friday.
New this year, the All-ACC Academic Team only honors undergraduate student-athletes, with graduates to be honored at a later date. Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team include a 3.0-grade point average for the previous two semesters and 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career, while being enrolled at the institution for at least one year and being classified as an undergraduate student. In addition, cross country student-athletes must compete in the ACC Championships, NCAA Regionals or NCAA Championships.
Three Orange women earned the honor, including Beatriz Fernandes (biomedical engineering), Jayden Harberts (psychology) and Carmen Luisi (health and exercise science).
Four men were also honored: Connell Alford (applied data analytics), Ben Gabelman (computer science), Sam Ricchuiti (management) and Ruben Rojas Betanzos (bioengineering).
The 'Cuse men are coming off a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, NCAA Northeast Region Championship and a runner-up performance at the ACC Championships, highlighting another outstanding season for the Orange cross country teams.
