Syracuse women's basketball freshman Uche Izoje has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the eighth time this season, the league office announced Monday.
Izoje averaged 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in 29.9 minutes over a 1-1 week for the Orange, recording her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season in the process. She shot 58.3 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the free throw line over the two-game stretch while averaging 3.0 blocks and 3.0 assists per game.
In a road contest at Notre Dame, Izoje posted 12 points and 10 rebounds with three blocks. Against the Fighting Irish, she surpassed head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's freshman rebound record of 259 at Syracuse — a milestone that speaks to the historic nature of her debut season.
Izoje saved her best for last in the regular season finale, leading all scorers with 24 points against Boston College while adding 12 rebounds — six on the offensive glass — to record her 13th double-double of the year.
The Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria native currently ranks third on Syracuse's all-time freshman scoring list, capping a remarkable first season with the Orange.
