
Orange Continue 2026 Season in Ithaca

The Syracuse Volleyball team opens a three-game stretch in Ithaca facing off against Howard on Thursday, Sept. 3rd at 6 p.m. ET., followed by UAlbany on Friday, Sept. 4th at 3 p.m. ET. and finishing off against Cornell on Saturday, Sept 5th at 6 p.m. ET.

- Syracuse Volleyball will continue its season on the road facing Howard, UAlbany, and Cornell in Ithaca, NY.
- The Orange got rolling in its non-conference schedule in 2025, starting 8-2 on the year. The Orange also won all three tournaments that they competed in during the non-conference slate.
- Syracuse will play a nine-match slate of non-conference matches before rolling into ACC-play during late September.
- The Orange have new faces at the Middle Blocker position with Kiera Hagler, Emma Faerber, Bo Nijenhuis and Abby Nicholson joining the fold.
- Hagler, a freshman from Calera, Ala., competed at Calera High School and Alabama Performance Volleyball Club before joining the Orange.
- Faerber, a freshman from Wiesbaden, Germany, played for VC Wiesbaden and competed in the German National Championship in '23, '24, '25 and '26.
- Nijenhuis brings experience from Rivo Rijssen, a championship-winning team in the Netherlands.
- Nicholson, a graduate from Savannah, Ga., competed for Lafayette, tallying 43 matches played, appearing in 98 sets while notching 37 starts.
- Outside hitter Marie Laurio returns to Syracuse, now entering her sophomore season.
- As a freshman in 2025, Laurio recorded 55 kills and 93 digs.
- Laurio was crucial in a five-set win over Boston College last season, logging 13 digs and 10 kills in the match.
- Syracuse builds its libero and defensive specialist room around graduate Anna Smith, freshman Queen Howse and sophomore Yuka Urano.
- Smith, from Charleston, S.C. spent three seasons at Coastal Carolina before graduating early to continue her career.
- Howse, a freshman from Brentwood, Tenn. joins the Orange after a standout career at Brentwood High School, being named to the TSSAA First Team All-District and All-Region while adding AVCA All-Region awards as a senior.
- Urano, a sophomore from Tokyo, Japan recorded 502 digs and 142 assists in the 2025 season playing for Navarro College.
- Syracuse Volleyball will face Howard for the first time in both teams history.
- Howard finished last year at 18-11 and went 10-4 in MEAC conference play.
- Freshman outside hitter Addison Buckner leads the Bison with 22 kills while Sydnei Jones facilitates the offense, logging 51 assists on the year.
- Last time the Orange versed the Great Danes, Syracuse won all three sets.
- The Great Danes ended the 2025 season 14-12, and 7-5 in conference play.
- Junior outside hitter Pinar Erol leads UAlbany with 22 kills, highlighted by a 13-kill game in their season opener against Iowa.
- UAlbany comes into this series 0-3 in the 2026 season.
- Syracuse Volleyball in their history with Albany have come out victorious 7 out of the 11 matches.
- Syracuse has won 25 of the 27 matches against Cornell in their history.
- Last year in Albany the Orange beat Cornell 3-2.
- Junior middle blocker Mackenzie Parsons ranked second on the team with 246 kills in 2025, notching 2.65 kills per set.
- Senior libero Sara Pomar tallied 34 digs a year ago, notching 3.74 digs per set.
- Cornell will start their 2026 campaign this weekend in the Cornell Invite.
