Agent Policies
2005 CALENDAR
1) SU will conduct an agent education meeting with all current junior football student-athletes.
2) SU OAC will register all agents (ongoing through the spring semester).
3) SU OAC will provide list of all registered and approved agents to current junior football student-athletes.
1) SU OAC will distribute all agent literature and materials to junior football student-athletes. (March 1-June 30)
2) SU OAC will conduct a pre-agent meeting with junior football student-athletes who wish to have an on campus meeting with a SU registered agent. (March 1-June 30)
3) SU OAC will send out letters to agents reminding them of SU’s student-athlete/agent policy and mandating that no additional contacts with SU football players should take place until such time that their eligibility is exhausted. (June)
4) SU OAC will facilitate any on campus student-athlete agent meetings. (March 1-June 30)
1) OAC will send letter to the parents of football players regarding agent issues. The letter will reintroduce university and student-athlete/agent program policies as well as NCAA rules concerning agents and amateurism. The letter will inform them of all agent-related activities scheduled during the upcoming academic year.
1) OAC will invite a financial advisor to speak to the football squad regarding the services available to them. OAC will also invite a speaker to address the football squad on “why you do not need an agent until your eligibility has expired”.
NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2005
DEAD PERIOD—NO PLAYER-AGENT CONTACT PERMITTED
1) Meeting with all members of the football program to arrange for amateur affidavit signing.
2) OAC will send a letter to the parents of all juniors and seniors letting them know that representatives of SU will be present at the Bowl and will be available for individual and/or group consultation to discuss agent issues.
1) Agents may now contact student-athletes whose eligibility has been exhausted.
2) OAC will facilitate any additional requests from student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility to meet with agents.
· Players are not permitted to meet with agents outside of the regularly scheduled OAC on-campus agent meetings until their eligibility is exhausted.
· All agents must be registered with the OAC in order to be on the Syracuse University list of approved agents.
· Players are to refer all agents who directly contact them to the OAC.
Agents must also notify the OAC of any direct contact with the student-athletes.
· Agents found to be in violation of SU Student-Athlete/Agent Policies on direct contacts will be removed from the SU Registration list and will not be included in the selection process.
· Agents are not permitted to receive complimentary tickets from any football player.
