Assistant Coach Michelle Bento315-443-3761
A 1992 graduate of Fresno State, Bento spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater where she coached the perimeter players, served as scouting coordinator and directed the strength and conditioning program. She also supervised academic progress. Prior to returning to coaching at her alma mater, Bento spent two seasons as a graduate assistant and two seasons as a full-time assistant at San Jose State University. In addition, she is an experienced clinician, serving as a counselor at camps at Fresno State, San Jose State and the University of California-Berkeley. As a player at Fresno State, Bento helped the Bulldogs basketball team to an appearance in the NIT in 1990, and was team captain and MVP of the 1991 squad. In addition, Bento played on the Fresno State softball team, and was named to the College World Series All-Tournament team in 1992. In the spring of 2000, Bento was invited to the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp in Chicago. Bento earned her bachelor's degree in physical education - teaching option from Fresno State in 1992. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports administration from Fresno State.
Assistant Coach Lindsay Gottlieb
Gottlieb was a four-year member of the women's basketball team at Brown, serving as student assistant coach in 1998. She received the team's Heart and Soul Award in 1997. As a student assistant, she assisted the coaching staff with recruiting, player development and the overall management of the program. Gottlieb has coached the Westchester Basketball Association AAU and the Kutsher's Sports Academy, and served as a camp counselor at Brown and Connecticut. In 1996, she served as an intern at the Women's Sports Foundation where she directed the Mervyns Scholarship Program and coordinated the Sportswoman of the Year nominations and ballots. A native of Scarsdale, NY, Gottlieb earned her bachelor's degree in political science in May, 1999
Darren Bennett joined the Orangewomen coaching staff in June 2000 after serving as an assistant coach at Temple for the past two seasons. Bennett coaches the post players, handles recruiting duties, team travel and scheduling of opponents. In addition, he serves as as assistant director of the SU Girls Basketball Camp. At Temple, Bennett was responsible for recruiting, scouting of opponents, coaching the perimeter players and coordinating defensive game plans. In addition, he coordinated team travel and scheduling of non-conference opponents. Bennett also implemented pre- and post-season conditioning. Bennett earned his bachelor's degree in health and fitness from Springfield College in 1995, and his Master's degree in health education in 1997. Bennett was a member of the football squad for four years, and the basketball team for three years. In 1997-98, he served as an assistant coach at his alma mater as well as taught health at Kiley Middle School in Springfield. |
