Preston Shumpert contributed six points in a 14-4 opening run and the Orangemen bolted to a 41-27 halftime margin.
SU buckled down in the second half, never letting the Phoenix get within 10 points of its game-long lead. With just over nine minutes to play, SU clinched the victory with an 11-0 run that made the score 66-45. Damone Brown had six points in the stretch and closed out the evening with 16 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. It marked his second consecutive double-double. DeShaun Williams also had 16 points, while Shumpert led the team with 19 points.
Allen Griffin directed an offense that committed only six turnovers, none of which were his. He finished with a total of nine points, six assists and two rebounds. Meanwhile, Wisconsin-Green Bay committed 15 turnovers.
Center Billy Celuck, tied his career-best efforts with nine points and three blocks in the victory.
