Coach Boeheim Postgame Quotes
Syracuse vs. Pittsburgh
February 10, 2002
Syracuse, NY - Carrier Dome
Coach Boeheim's opening remarks:
"The big story was to just get on the boards. We battled them even the first half. As long as we were battling them even on the boards, we were in the ball game."
"Offensively we played solid the first half. In the second half we didn't get enough contributions from everybody."
"We scored and rebounded enough the first half. The second half wasn't nearly as good, and they took advantage of it."
Boeheim on the defense:
"I thought our man-to-man was good for most of the game. The second half was more transition. They got some loose balls and got down the court before we could get our defense set."
"Our defense was good the first half. We did a good job on the boards. Getting out-rebounded by 10 in the second half was really the difference. That's something that is hard to overcome."
"We got 16 wins because our zone was pretty good for most of the year. It hasn't been a factor in the past two games. When you have to play man-to-man you have to expend more energy getting through the screen. You'd like to be able to mix it up. Our zone was the difference in the early season games."
