Coach Boeheim Quotes

Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
On tonight’s game:
“We played much better in the second half. I think we learned something about being ready to play tonight, that this is not last year’s team and that we have to work hard. Some of the young guys have been misled by what’s happened so far and weren’t really prepared for this kind of game. But tonight was a good experience for everyone. Terrence (Roberts) and Matt (Gorman) did a good job banging and hustling in there and that was a good sign.”
On the Harlem Globetrotter’s team:
“(The Harlem Globetrotters) are a very, very good team. They’re a veteran team that has a very strong perimeter defense. They really know how to play. They have some great guys that can shoot the ball. Z (Lazarus Sims) played great. He did a great job of getting the ball to the right people. He really hurt us the most. Ceballos (Cedric Ceballos) is a great shooter, a veteran shooter.”
On the raising of the 2003 National Championship banner:
“That’s all great, but I’m beyond that now. I’m not thinking about that anymore. We’ve had enough great feelings, and I’m definitely glad we were able to do it, but that’s way past us. We’ve just been concentrating on working hard this season.”
On the performances of Josh Pace and Billy Edelin:
“They helped us win the NCAA National Championship last year, so I’m not that surprised at their performances. They’re doing now, what they were able to do at the end of last year. Billy (Edelin) had 20 points in the Manhattan game and Josh (Pace) had 14. I’m not surprised that they did everything they needed to do and more.”
On freshman forward Terrence Roberts:
“Terrence (Roberts) is going to get nothing but better everyday. This was a very good experience for him to show what he can do. But, this was a good test for him and us, against a very good team. There were more positives than negatives.”
