Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Freshman Forward Carmelo Anthony
On Mike Sweetney:
"He's big; 6-8 and about 260. He's a load in the post."
On coming back strong after the emotional win against Pittsburgh:
"It was tough because when we played against Pitt, we left everything we had out on the court. To come back two days later and play another tough team tonight, that's kind of tough."
On the balanced scoring for SU:
"When the stat sheet is balanced and a lot of guys are scoring, it is hard to beat us. When I'm scoring, and Hakim (Warrick), and Kueth (Duany), and Billy (Edelin) – Billy came off the bench and gave us 10 points tonight. It's pretty hard to play with us when we have that balance."
On the play of Freshman Billy Edelin:
"Georgetown is Billy's hometown school, so I knew he was going to come out with a little bit of fire."
Sophomore Hakim Warrick
On the second of his two three-point plays in the second half:
"I just knew the next time I touched the ball that I was going to try to score. I just wanted to go in there and step up. I felt like I really let my team down in the first half and the start of the second half. I just wanted to go in there and contribute something and help my team out."
On the Georgetown rivalry:
"You know going in that they are going to hustle and bang with you the whole time and it was physical out there. When you have a rivalry like this one, you know that it is going to be physical going in."
On playing four games in eight days:
"We are pretty banged up and have a lot of injuries. It's over now and we have a day off tomorrow. Wednesday we'll just come to practice and get ready for West Virginia."
Freshman Billy Edelin
On the four day break before West Virginia:
"We definitely need a break. Playing four games in eight days is tough. We don't have practice tomorrow so we are going to go out and just chill and then bounce back and have a hard practice on Wednesday."
On his comfort level:
"I felt most comfortable today and also in the Seton Hall game. When I get minutes it is much easier. As soon as I got into the game I hit a floater and that's my shot so I felt good. After that, I made a couple passes and just let the game come to me."
On getting his teammates fired up:
"I like to get the team fired up. Sometimes we'll be playing well and be winning by two or four points and guys will look like they're dead, so I just try to get them hyped. We feed off of that and the great Carrier Dome crowd."
On the Georgetown rivalry:
"I definitely felt the rivalry. In high school I never dove on the floor and I dove about four times tonight. I think both teams were playing real hard and at the end they almost came back so we had to finish the game off strong."
Freshman Gerry McNamara
On the team's free throw shooting:
"Well, that saved us tonight. We get criticized a lot for our foul shooting, but tonight we really got to the line and made shots. It was a key factor in the game."
On his personal free throw shooting:
"I don't like to jinx myself. When I'm on a roll I'm not going to think about it. When I get to the line I try not to think; I just step up and shoot it naturally."
On the team's balanced scoring:
"In most of the big games that we've won this year we have pretty balanced scoring. We're at our best when we have all our guys hitting on all cylinders."
On the team's chemistry:
"We all respect each other and get along real well. It's easy to play with each other on the court because we care and we want to get everyone involved."
On Carmelo Anthony:
"Great players make other players better, and he has the ability to do that. That's just the great thing about Carmelo is that he makes other people better around him."
