Syracuse Post-Game Quotes
Syracuse vs. Niagara
SU Post-Game Quotes
Head Coach Keith Cieplicki
Opening statement:
“This was a good, hard-fought game. I don’t think we shot the ball especially well, and we turned it over 20 times, but we found a way to win. It’s a good start for us.”
On the scoring differential in the paint (40-14):
“Niagara had the right game plan. They packed it in and hoped we missed. Despite that, I think we did a pretty good job on the boards to get second shots. We kept emphasizing to our players find a way to get it in there. We tried to reverse the ball and move the ball, and be consistent about letting our post players touch the ball because good things are going to happen when they do.”
On Jessica Richter’s play:
“She’s a playmaker. When she’s on the floor, the game changes. She made a lot things happen. You have to live with some of the things that aren’t so good, but it just seems whenever there’s a big play, she’s in the middle of it. I’ve coached a lot of players, and she’s as competitive a player as I’ve ever coached.”
On the bench play:
“Krystalyn and Jill came in and gave us huge minutes tonight. If Krystalyn can keep playing the point like she is, she’s going to be a huge key for this team.”
Chineze Nwagbo
On her foul trouble:
“It really didn’t affect me. I still went out and played hard. It is something I need to control, though. I need to work on that for our next game.”
On the other post players:
“I’m excited about the post play this year. We have a lot of great players. I have faith in my teammates. They’ll get the job done.”
Jessica Richter
On her shooting:
“I felt good. You’re not going to make them all. You just have to keep shooting and make the next one.”
Jill Norton
On her role this season:
“I’m just trying to do whatever I can to help the team win. If that’s coming in and making a couple of shots, or cheering them on from the bench, I’ll do what I have to. I just want to win this year. If I’m in there scoring, or boxing out and rebounding, whatever it is, I’ll do it. I just want to win this year.”
On finally playing the opener:
“The energy on this team is great. Everyone is really excited to get the season started. It seemed like this game took forever to come around, and I think everyone is happy we can get things rolling.”
