Coach Boeheim Quotes
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, NY
February 10, 2004
On tonight’s game:
“I think we’ve battled hard all year. I think there’s a little mistake, an impression, that we’re not battling hard for some reason and I don’t think that’s the case. We struggled scoring and when you struggle to score, you can look bad. Even tonight we struggled to score but we got on the boards a little near the end, got a couple rebound plays and I thought we picked up our defense. We were active all night and did a good job getting up on their shooters, shields…after that we did a much better job.”
On the play of Josh Pace:
“I thought Josh was big tonight. He was active and he played the way has to play for us to be effective.”
On preparing for the next game:
“We’ve got to find a better way to play better on offense and that’s something we’re going to go hard on the next couple of days at practice and get ready to go play Miami…our guys are ready. They responded tremendously well tonight.”
On defending Rutgers:
“(Rutgers) is a good shooting team and we did a great job getting out on them and not giving them the open looks. We made them shoot at a step out and a couple of them (Ricky) Shields made but we still kept (Quincy) Douby out a few steps to where he’s comfortable.”
On playing Terrence (Roberts) and Jeremy (McNeil):
“We went for a bigger line up. We’ve wanted to do that all year and we were able to get away with it tonight. That’s something we have to think about more to get a little bit more size in there. I think that could help us.”
