Syracuse Player Quotes

Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Junior Hakim Warrick
On the play of Jeremy McNeil:
"He played really smart. He came out very aggressive, and I think that got us going in the first half. He had some big-time put-backs and some big plays down the stretch."
On adjusting the defense:
"Every game in the BIG EAST is going to be a tough game. I think we did a really good job of stepping out and not allowing them to get the ball (outside the three-point arc). That was a big part of our defense that we improved on in the second half."
Junior Josh Pace
On what it takes to win: "We came out and played hard. We got down by five and we didn't give up, and we were able to overcome it. If we play like this and just don't give up against other teams in the BIG EAST, I think we'll be OK. It's about heart and being physical. You have to be able to pull tough games out. We're a good team, but there are a lot of other teams in the BIG EAST. It's going to be a battle every night."
On where to go from here:
"We have to try and stay focused because we have a game coming up against Miami. We're ready to go down there. They're playing well at home, so we know it'll be a dogfight coming at us again next week. We have to come back tomorrow and get back into practice."
Freshman Terrence Roberts
On knowing his role:
"We have a lot of players on our bench. Everyone just has to be ready to contribute. I try to go out there and get the energy level up and get the crowd involved. I think earlier when I was playing, I was trying to do too much. I'm starting to understand my role and that's helping me a lot."
On confidence:
"These are the kinds of games we need to help us build our confidence back up. My confidence comes from getting a chance to get out there and get the team going even a little bit. I try to do little things --feeding Gerry, Josh and Hak --just anything I can do."
