Post-Game Quotes
Syracuse Head Coach Keith Cieplicki
“It was a hard-fought game between two programs that are trying to do the same kinds of things. It came down to them making a couple of plays at the end. It’s a disappointing loss because I think we showed that we’re capable of being successful against them, but they got it done. We’ll take this one and hopefully get better from it.”
On getting outrebounded (49-39):
“We showed for long stretches of the game that we could rebound with them. The name of the game is consistency – at both ends. I thought we broke down down the stretch. If you’re there, and I’m there, and the ball is there – whoever gets there first is going to get it, and Marcedes got there before us.”
On his reaction to the game:
“We’ve got to maintain and execute the game plan for 40 minutes. It’s easy when things are going well. We have to learn to fight through when the going gets tough. We’ve done that pretty well in our non-league schedule. But the margin for error shrinks.”
On Rochelle Coleman’s recent play:
“She’s creating nice tempo. She’s fearless. The other kids feed off her and get excited for her. They’re excited to play with her because she runs and really pushes the ball well. Going into the year, if you would’ve told me Rochelle was going to play 30 minutes at the point, I wouldn’t have been so sure. But she’s doing the things that this team needs right now. I really value her contributions. I don’t think she could be doing more, and she’s probably trying to do too much at times. I appreciate that because right now she has to for us.”
Senior Guard Rochelle Coleman
On her last two three-point attempts to tie the game:
“My team has confidence in my shot, so if I’m open, I’m going to take it. They were open shots. I just have to knock it down for my team.”
On the physical play:
“They were pretty physical. I think as we keep getting into league play, it will get more physical. This was a good test for us to start off BIG EAST play. We just have to be ready for it.”
On the team’s play versus Pittsburgh:
“I think we played hard. We started to mess up on things we should have executed correctly. I think the effort was there, but the execution was lacking in some parts of the game. That hurt us in the end.”
On facing Notre Dame next Wednesday:
“We have to make sure we execute every part of our game. We have to rebound and box out, and just play our game.”
