Coach Boeheim on the defensive effort:
“We’ve worked a lot on our defense and tried to be better this week. We did play well defensively in the first half. And in the first 10-12 minutes of the second half, our defense was very good. We kept people in front of us and just did an excellent job.”
“I just thought defensively, we played very, very well defensively tonight. We didn’t allow them to get into anything on the offensive end. That’s a good improvement over what we’ve been doing on the defensive end.”
Coach Boeheim on the offense:
“We had a little bit of ball movement, we got some open shots. You know when you make jump shots, it helps everything. Eric got us started, then Gerry got a couple.”
“We’ve got to get a little better offensively, and I think we can. But tonight was just a real, real good defensive effort from us.”

Coach Boeheim on Terrence Roberts and Darryl Watkins:
They didn’t score a lot, but they were dominant on the defensive end. They didn’t let anything come inside. Terrence made some big time blocks. Mookie (Watkins) ran down that guard and made a tremendous block on that play. I just thought they were better defensively and that’s important to us.
Coach Boeheim on the team’s rebounding:
We’ve got to rebound a little better. We’re still not getting on the boards like we need to, but Duke’s the Number 1 team in the country and they’re minus one rebounding. Rebounding, we just have to battle and hold our own there and we’ll be all right.
Coach Boeheim looking ahead to the game against Davidson:
It’s a tough time always. This last week’s tough. We’re getting ready to take some finals this week. They have finals and papers and it’s always a difficult time to get through. Davidson’s playing as well as anyone we’re going to play. A veteran team, a real difficult team to defend. It will be a tough basketball game in here Sunday. These types of games will help us down the road.
