Thoms was a member of SU’s 1966 club that reached the Gator Bowl. The Orange were 22-9 in his three seasons with the varsity. After leaving Syracuse, Thoms played eight seasons in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles. He was named to Syracuse University's All-Century team in November, 1999.
