Joe Ceglia was an All-American defenseman for the Orange and a member of the 2000 National Championship team. In his senior year, he was second in recovered groundballs.
Senior Year (2000): STX/USILA Honorable Mention All-American…played in all 16 games…took 18 shots and scored four goals…had one assist and five points…recovered 78 groundballs, the second most on the team.
Junior Year (1999): Played in all 17 games and made one start…took right shots…had three goals…recovered 53 groundballs…scored goals in the regular season versus Yale, Brown and Georgetown…shutdown Princeton’s leading scorer, Josh Sims, holding him pointless in SU’s 7-5 win in the NCAA first round…Sims scored five points in the quadruple overtime game at the Carrier Dome earlier in the season and averaged 2.25 goals per game and 2.6 points per game on the season…Ceglia held Sims to just five shots on goal in the NCAA Tournament…named to the 1999 Spring Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
Sophomore Year (1998): Played in 11 games…recovered 19 groundballs.
Freshman Year (1997): Played at Gettysburg College…scored four goals and had two assists.
High School: Attended Yorktown High School…Two-year lacrosse letterwinner…also lettered in basketball and football…scored 13 career goals…All-American as a senior…All-Section and All-Hudson Valley as a senior…Con-Ed Scholar Athlete as a senior.
Personal: Son of Edward and Ann-Marie Ceglia…two older sisters…born June 12, 1978 in Bronx, N.Y….majored in history with a minor in information systems technology.
