Cox introduced lacrosse to Syracuse University in 1916. He coached the informal team in 1916-17, then when it was made a minor sport in 1918, and finally when it was made a major sport in 1920. Cox coached SU to an undefeated season in 1926. He was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1957.
Career: Coached SU Lacrosse as a major sport from 1920 to 1931…Coached the All-American teams in International Series in 1930, ’35 and ’37…Introduced lacrosse to New England College in 1948…Coached from 1948-1950 and 1954, ’56 and ’57 at NEC...Compiled an overall coaching record of 189-65-5.
