International Competition: He was a three-time U.S. Olympic Team member and competed at the international level for over 10 years ... In 1964, he raced in the two w/o coxswain at the Olympic Games in Tokyo ... He won gold medals at the 1967 Pan Am Games and European Championships ... Then in Mexico City at the Olympic Games he won the silver medal ... Johnson became a U.S. Team coach and traveled to the Olympics once again in 1972.
