Player Quotes
Kristin Brady
On the strong point of team…
“A lot of people are coming back and I think that we are pretty well balanced.”
On goals for the season…
“Well, the BIG EAST Tournament is the first BIG EAST tournament so to win the BIG EAST for sure. Obviously to get the (NCAA) tournament. I mean, that’s always a goal and I think that we would like to get to the tournament but also to do well.”
Katie Rowan
On Gaddy’s (Fortune) leadership off the field…
“If you had any problems, I would feel comfortable going to her and asking her for help and she would help you with school, with whatever you needed help with. She is a really great person. On the field, you feel comfortable when she has the ball. You’re not nervous to pass to her. She’s a team player. She’ll always look to pass. She’s a really good dodger, and she looks to go to net. She goes to goal a lot but if she was in trouble, she would look to pass.”
On working together…
“We were able to connect a lot last year and look for each other, but we have a lot more options this year so were excited about that.”
On the bull’s eye on your backs…
“Teams will look to double so we’ll really have to get open for each other.”
Gaddy Fortune
On last year…
“It was never expected it and last year was last year, and scratch it off my plate and start over again. When you have so much pressure on yourself, you take yourself out of the game, so I take every game every practice one at a time. My teammates really helped me out last year, it was a team effort. All season I played every game. I’m just doing my job and doing what my team needs me to do. My coaches always knew I had the potential. It’s basically growing into the game and becoming a better player and finishing.”
On expectations for this year…
“Personally, to be a leader, on and off the field and to show by what I do, especially for the younger girls. Come in and take each practice like it’s my last. You don’t want to build up too many expectations and fall short but you want to go out and work as hard as you can and have no regrets.”
On your scoring ability…
“Whatever my team needs me to do, just tell me what I need to do and Ill try to do it. If its me going to goal, that’s what it is or if its staying back and being the decoy, that’s what I am going to do. Whatever that’s going to get me that W, it’s all I want.”
On hosting the BIG EAST Tournament…
“Home field advantage is one of the best things.”
Amber Pardee-Hill
On her role this year…
“I got to step up and that’s what I came here for. This is what I always wanted to do. Playing since I was really little, always wanted to come here and play here. I wasn’t prepared when I came here and now it’s a lot different. I have my teammates to help me out. I didn’t have any goalie training, I was always training myself. I wasn’t used to the running and the amount of work we had to put in. I wasn’t used to the discipline. My teammates have been really supportive. They’re there for me.”
On what she learned from Jen Kasel last year…
“When I could, she would take me out and tell me what not right. “she was a really big help and she was there for me. I got to step it up and I know it’s a lot of pressure but Coach is there for me and they talk me through it and tell me they believe in me. I have a great support staff here.”
Chelsea Strodel
On Amber Pardee-Hill…
“She has great work ethic. She really wanted to start this year. Her clears have improved from last year to this year.”
Jill DePetris
On Gaddy Fortune…
“She’s always going to be there for you and you know that. If you ever need anything, I would always go to Gaddy. She’s very trustworthy and honest.
On this years expectations for Gaddy…
“The pressure is on Gaddy, she really has to keep working at it and she does. She’s being a leader on the field and off the field, she has to step up and she has. It is nice to know that if you give her the ball she is going to take care of it and put it away.”
On playing with her sister…
“I would come home from practice I would teach her all the things I learned. We basically have grown up together learning the game, and I would tell her everything I learned and she would tell me. You get to have someone on the field that can yell at you and you won’t take it personally. It’s nice to have her here. I think she will be [better than me] by her senior year. We play a lot alike, but I am a little more competitive than Jackie is.”
Jackie DePetris
On playing with her sister…
“I am very happy I chose here so that I got to play with her again. Everyday, she’ll be like, ‘Jackie do this and work on this.’ It’s great though, because I have another person in the back of my head. It’s encouragement.”
