SENIOR RECOGNITION
The Orange split its final dual meet against Villanova with the men posting a 199-87 victory, while the women lost 154.5-139.5. The men, who won 14 events, finish with a 4-1 record, while the women, touched first in nine events stand at 2-3.

A PAIR OF SCHOOL RECORDS SET AT NIKE CUP
The swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the Janis Hape Nike Cup hosted by North Carolina on Saturday with two school records for the women's team. Junior Catrina Roth broke the previous 200 Back record of 2:02.62 when she swam the event in 2:02.13 and freshman Natalie Mazzetta broke the former 400 IM record of 4:23.91 by posting a time of 4:23.25.
FASTEST TIMES OF THE SEASON
Along with Roth and Mazzetta's times, the women's team swam its fastest this season in 10 events during the competition. Roth has the top time in the 100 Back of 56.89. Mazzetta's time of 4:54.42 in the 500 Free and 2:03.63 in the 200 Fly are the best for the Orange this season. Sophomore Masha Glukhova is the top performer in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:06.40 and freshman Katlin O'Hara is the best in the 50 Free with a time of 23.97. Junior Danielle Stein posted a team-best 2:09.04 in the 200 IM and sophomore Katelyn Schumacher recorded a top time of 58.66 in the 100 Fly.
The men swam just as fast, posting nine new top times for the season. Freshman Kuba Kotynia posted team-best times in the 200 IM (1:55.40), 100 Breast (56.09) and 200 Breast (2:00.63.). He claimed first place in teh 100 and 200 Breast. Junior Alex Taraskin also set three top times: 100 Free (46.72), 200 Free (1:41.14) and 500 Free (4:32.07). Freshman Berk Kahraman is the top performer in the 100 Back with a time of 51.37 and the 200 Back with a time of 1:49.12. Rounding out the top times is sophomore Boldizsar Kiss, who finished the 200 Fly with a time of 1:49.12.
In all 26 SU swimmers posted personal best times for the season.

THE ORANGE SPLITS WITH BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The men's swimming and diving team won its second meet this season by defeating Boston University, 130-11, while the women lost by a narrow margin of 122-199. The men side won eight events and the women won seven.
Once again freshman Natalie Mazzetta claimed three victories for the women. She won the 200 Free (1:52.51), 200 Fly (2:04.30) and 500 Free (5:06.55). Freshman Katlin O'Hara won the 50 Free (24.51) and the 100 Free (53.19), while junior Catrina Roth was victorious in the 200 Breast (2:06.95). The relay team of Roth and sophomores Masha Glukhova, Katelyn Schumacher and Carolyn Delkus took home first in the 400 Medley (3:58.61).
Eight Orange events have new top-performance standards after the meet against Boston University. Alex Taraksin had the best time this year in the 1,000 Free (9:44.81) and Kuba Kotynia is the top performer in the 200 Breast (2:06.36). Taraksin, Ryan Corcoran, Matt Brock, Boldizsar Kiss swam the fastest 400 Free Relay (3:11.34) this season.

SWIMMING AND DIVING BEGINS BIG EAST COMPETITION
The men and women’s swimming and diving teams welcomed Pittsburgh to Webster Pool on Saturday, Oct. 27. The men (1-1) were defeated, 154-89, and the women (1-1) lost, 155-86. The men came away with victories in the 200 IM, 100 Free and the 200 Back. The women won the 1,000 Free, 500 Free, the 200 Fly, 200 Back and 200 Breast.
FRESHMAN MAZZETTA CONTINUES SUCCESS
Freshman Natalie Mazzetta has won every individual event she has swam, including wins against Pittsburgh in the 1,000 Free (10:17.36), 500 Free (5:01.97) and the 200 Fly (2:05.35).

SYRACUSE HOST ARMY AND MARIST AT ORANGE INVITATIONAL
The swimming and diving team won 25 of 38 events, with the men winning 10 of 19 and the women won 15 of 19 events. The competition was non-scoring and was set up very similar to way the Nike Cup, BIG EAST Championships and the NCAA Championships are run.
The teams were in the pool for three sessions during two days. The men started by winning three of four during the first session on Friday, Oct. 19. They followed with two wins during the second session and four wins during the third. Sessions two and three were held on Saturday, Oct. 20.
The women posted three wins on day one as well and followed with five wins in the second session and seven wins in the third. Freshman Natalie Mazzetta took home victories in the 400 IM, 500 Free, 200 Fly and the 1,000 Free.

SWIMMERS AND DIVERS ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO
The 2007-08 swimming and diving season is on its way. The Orange began competition on Friday, October 12th at Colgate. Both the men and women were victorious by winning 23 of 26 events. The men won 13 events with a combined score of 170-61 and the women won 10 with a 129-94 total.
Four of the men swimmers took home two victories apiece. Sophomore Ryan Corcoran won the 50 free (22.26) and the 100 free (48.82). Sophomore Boldizsar Kiss finished first in the 200 free (1:46.66) and the 200 fly (1:57.05). Freshman Kuba Kotynia earned victories in the 200 IM (1:57.84) and the 200 Breast (2:08.16) and junior Alex Taraskin placed first in the 1000 free (9:59.46) and the 500 free (4:50.43).
