Orange Ends Season at Northwestern
Syracuse's season came to an end at Northwestern in the NCAA Quarterfinals. Syracuse lost a hard-fought battle with the top-ranked and two-time defending national champion Wildcats, 14-9.
Pardee-Hill Impressive During First Season as Starter
Sophomore Amber-Pardee-Hill completed her first season as SU's starting goalkeeper with 13 saves against Northwestern's offense. The BIG EAST Championship's Most Outstanding Player, Pardee-Hill raised her season save-total to 193, eclipsing the school record of 186. Clothilde Ewing set the previous record in 1999.
Offensive Records
The Orange set team and individual records during the 2007 season. As a team, Syracuse amassed 288 goals, crushing the previous mark of 205 set during the 2005 season. In addition, sophomore Katie Rowan set school records with 86 points and 59 goals, topping the previous standards of 74 points and 52 goals.
Freshmen Halley Quillinan and Christina Dove also put their names in the record book. Quillinan set the freshman record with 50 goals and Dove set the rookie record with 58 points. Both topped the records set by Rowan a year earlier of 46 goals and 56 points.

Orange Wins First NCAA Tournament Game
The Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team won its first-ever NCAA Tournament game, defeating eighth-seeded Vanderbilt, 16-10, in Nashville. The Orange, who won its school-record 13th game of the season, will now face two-time defending national champion and top-seeded Northwestern in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Remarkable Rowan
Sophomore Katie Rowan tallied five goals in SU's victory against Vanderbilt and in the process became the sixth and fastest player in school history to reach the 100-goal plateau. Rowan has now scored 104 goals in just 34 games, eclipsing the mark of 40 games set by Leigh-Ann Zimmer.
Rowan, who has tallied at least a hat trick in her previous 11 games, also added to her single-season school records for goals and points. She has now notched 83 points and 58 goals this season. The previous records were 74 points and 52 goals.
May 7
Rowan Sets New Standard at SU
Sophomore Katie Rowan led the team with five points on three goals and two assists to set the single-season school records in both points and goals. Rowan’s five points and three goals broke the single-season school records set by Leigh-Ann Zimmer in 2004. Rowan raised her season total to 78 points and 53 goals to surpass Zimmer’s totals of 74 points and 52 goals. The second-year player also raised her career-goal total to 99, one shy of becoming the sixth player in school history to reach the 100-goal plateau.
Pardee-Hill Continues Impressive Second Half
Sophomore goalkeeper Amber Pardee-Hill continued her strong play against Penn. The BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Player, Pardee-Hill recorded 14 saves (allowing 10 goals) for a save percentage of 58.3. During the past seven games, she owns has recorded 12.14 saves per game, compared to 8.80 saves per game during the season’s first 10 games. She has also improved her goals against average (8.43 compared to 9.88) and save percentage (.590 compared to .466).
Orange Gears Up for NCAA Tournament
The Orange now prepares to make its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance. Syracuse last participated in the NCAA Tournament in 2005 and also competed in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. SU is 0-5 all-time in tournament games.
April 30
Orange Win BIG EAST Championship
The seventh-ranked Syracuse Orange won the inaugural BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Championship with a 12-7 victory against top-seeded and 10th-ranked Georgetown. With the victory, Syracuse earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Pardee-Hill Earns Most Outstanding Player Honors
Sophomore Amber Pardee-Hill led an outstanding defensive performance for the Orange during the weekend. She totaled 24 saves during the tournament, including 13 saves against Georgetown, while allowing only 14 goals for a 63.2 percent save rate.
Orange Clean Up at BIG EAST Banquet
Syracuse head women’s lacrosse coach Lisa Miller was honored among her peers Thursday evening, earning BIG EAST Coach of the Year accolades at the season-ending awards banquet. In addition, a school-record six student-athletes earned all-conference honors. Freshman Halley Quillinan and sophomore Katie Rowan were both named to the All-BIG EAST First Team and seniors Jill DePetris, Ashley Pike and Chelsea Strodel and junior Bridget Looney each earned second-team honors. Syracuse’s six selections to the all-conference teams are the most of any school in the conference.
April 23
Explosive Offense
The Orange offense is rewriting the SU record books this year. Syracuse has already set the school record for goals in a season, recording 230 goals in just 14 games. The 2005 team held the previous record, posting 205 goals in 17 games.
In addition, sophomore Katie Rowan and senior Jill DePetris are nearing individual records. Rowan has posted 65 points this season, nine shy of the school record. She has also recorded 44 goals, which is just eight goals shy of the program's mark. DePetris ranks second with her 26 assists this season and is seven shy of the record.
The Orange has posted five of its top six scoring games this season and has scored at least 21 goals in its last three games.
Drawn to Perfection
The Orange dominated the draw controls against the Big Red, thus dominating the game. Syracuse won a team record 24 draw controls en route to a 22-9 victory. Freshman Christina Dove led the SU charge, winning a school-record 11 draw controls.
April 16
Orange Wins No. 100
With its win against Colgate, the Orange won the program's 100th all-time game. Head coach Lisa Miller has guided the Orange to all 100 of its victories as Syracuse has posted a winning season each year of its history. Syracuse's nine-consecutive winning seasons is the sixth-longest streak in NCAA history.
Rowan Earns Records
Sophomore Katie Rowan had an outstanding game againat No. 18 Rutgers. Rowan matched school records with seven points and 10 goals to lead the Syracuse to victory, 21-12. She also became the ninth player in school history to record 100 career points. Rowan reached the 100-point plateau in just 28 games, matching Katrina Hable as the quickest players to accomplish the feat. Rowan was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for her performance against the Scarlet Knights.
Disprutive Presence
Junior Bridget Looney is forcing opponents to turn the ball over at an alarming rate. Against Colgate, Looney set an SU record by forcing eight opponent miscues. Carrie Soults and Jessica Trombley held the previous record of six caused turnovers. For her efforts, Looney earned Honor Roll accolades. She has recorded six caused turnovers on the season, six shy of the school record.
April 2
Syracuse Plays Top-Ranked Northwestern Tough
The eighth-ranked Orange has played No. 1 and two-time defending national champion tougher than any other team over the past two seasons. Syracuse has lost to the Wildcats by two goals last season and three goals this past week, two of Northwestern's three closest regular season games during 2006 and 2007.
Rowan Leads SU Offense
Sophomore Katie Rowan continues to shine for the SU offense. She leads the team with 38 points on a team-best 26 goals and 12 assists. Rowan was accountable for four goals against the nation's top defense on Friday. She scored three goals and added an assist against Northwestern, who gives up only five goals per game. Rowan is six points shy of becoming the ninth player in school history to record 100 career points.
March 26
Reaching 100
Senior Jill DePetris recorded five points on two goals and three assists against Harvard and became the eighth player in school history to reach the 100-point plateau. A four-year starter, DePetris has totaled 58 goals and 44 assists during her tenure at SU. Her 44 assists rank fourth in school history and she is tied for 11th with 58 career goals.
Offensive Outburst
The Orange tied a school record with 23 goals against Harvard on Sunday. SU's offensive output tied the school record set in 1998 against Albany and matched earlier this year against Binghmaton. In addition, the game's combined 35 goals also tied a school record (Maryland, 2000). Freshman Halley Quillinan led the Orange with seven points, five goals and two assists. Her seven points are tied for eighth-most in school history and she is the first SU student-athlete to post seven points since Monica Joines recorded eight points (four goals and four assists) in 2005.
Comeback for the Ages
The Orange trailed for most of its game against No. 20 Connecticut before rallying to win. Syracuse trailed by as many as four goals (11-7) in the second half, matching the second-greatest comeback in school history. Syracuse trailed Boston Universtiy by six goals in 1999 before winning. The Orange also trailed by as many as three goals (15-12) with under five minutes to play. Syracuse also trailed Virginia by three goals with under five minutes to play before rallying to win. Junior Kristin Brady scored the game-tying goal with 27 seconds remaining in overtime and then added two scores during the extra session.
March 19
Orange Wins Two
Syracuse won both of its games during the week, defeating Towson, 18-10, and then beating No. 6 Notre Dame, 16-13. Syracuse's win over sixth-ranked Notre Dame was SU's first win against a top-10 team in four tries this season.
Offense Wins Games?
The Orange owns one of the most high-powered offenses in college. Syracuse scored a total of 34 goals during its two victories this week. The Orange has scored at least 16 goals in each of its four victories during the 2007 season and is averaging 19 goals in its four wins. On the opposite end, Syracuse is averaging only nine goals in its three defeats.
Defense Wins Games?
The SU defense cam up big in its victory against No. 6 Notre Dame. The Orange held the Fighting Irish without a shot during the final 11 minutes of the game and were led by senior Chelsea Strodel. Strodel forced three Notre Dame turnovers in the first half and then swithed to cover Notre Dame's leading scorer, Jillian Byers in the second half. Strodel held Byers scoreless during the second period.
Pike and Looney lead SU Offense
Senior Ashley Pike and junior Bridget Looney both had outstanding performances in SU's win against No. 6 Notre Dame. After scoring a personal-best four goals against Towson, Pike topped her performance with a team-best five goals against the Fighting Irish. Looney also added a career-best four goals against Notre Dame.
March 12
Dominating Performance against Binghamton
The Orange opened the week with a convicing win against Binghamton, 23-4. Syracuse's 23 goals matched a school record. The Orange also posted 23 goals against Albany in 1998. SU's 19-goal margin of victory was also the second-highest in the program's history. The Orange defeated Connecticut, 20-0, during the 1998 season. Thirteen different SU players scored for the Orange in its record-setting performance.
Freshman Sensation
Freshman Halley Quillinan continues her impressive performance during her rookie season. Quillinan posted two goals in the victory against Binghamton and then scored three goals and added one assist against No. 10 Georgetown. She posted three of SU's final four goals against the Hoyas, including the last two goals of regulation to send the game into overtime. Quillinan leads the Orange with 13 goals in 2007 and has scored at least two goals in each of her five career games.
Oh So Close
The Orange lost a hard-fought contest to No. 10 Georgetown, 9-8, in sudden-death overtime. Syracuse had lost to the Hoyas each of its previous nine meetings and had a chance to win its first game in the series. A turnover in the second overtime forced SU's goalkeeper to freeze on the baseline, giving the Hoyas an open-cage goal and ending SU's hopes for an upset bid.
March 5
Pardee-Hill Defends the Cage
Sophomore Amber Pardee-Hill had an impressive week in the cage. She was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week following her performance against Albany and No. 9 Virginia. Pardee-Hill recorded nine save and allowed only six goals against Albany, earning her first collegiate victory. Against the ninth-ranked Cavaliers, Pardee-Hill stopped a career-best 13 shots.
Rowan Earns BIG EAST Honor Roll Accolades
Sophomore Katie Rowan led Syracuse’s offensive unit against the Great Danes and Cavaliers. Rowan totaled nine points on six goals and three assists against the two opponents. Against Albany, she scored three goals and added one assist. Rowan led the Orange with five points on three goals and two assists against the ninth-ranked Cavaliers.
February 26
Rowan Continues Impressive Performance
Sophomore Katie Rowan continues to lead the Orange with her offensive skills. She led Syracuse with four points and four goals against sixth-ranked Dartmouth. Rowan set freshman records in 2006 with 46 goals and 56 total points.
Super Debut
Two of Syracuse's freshman had an impressive beginning to their careers. Christina Dove led the Orange with three goals, four draw controls and three casued turnovers, while classmate Halley Quillinan added two goals in her first collegiate game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Amber Pardee-Hill made 10 saves in her first start in the cage.
