David Levy graduated from Syracuse University in 1941 with a bachelor of arts degree from the School of Arts and Science. David was a four-year letterwinner as a member of the ski team, was a member of the freshman football team and also was the assistant manager of the boxing team. He also served as treasurer of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity.
Upon graduation Levy served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-45. During his time in the service he was a Commanding Officer of a P.T. boat which was the same command that John F. Kennedy held. When Levy’s tour of duty was complete he entered Syracuse University’s School of Law. He graduated in 1948 and became a member of the New York State Bar Association. He was admitted in the Fourth Judicial Department on July 8, 1948.
After his graduation from Law School, Levy began working at Levy, Feldman, Licata PC which is now known as Levy & Licata, PC in Rochester, NY. Levy continues at the firm today which specializes in civil litigation practice with an emphasis upon the substantive areas of Eminent Domain and Real Property Tax. From 1973-74 Levy served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. David has also lectured and authored several publications including Appraisal Process in Condemnation, New York State Bar Association and Practicing Law Institute, 1968 and Discredit of the Cost Approach, New York State Bar Journal 1978.
Levy has also remained very active throughout the community. He has served on the Boards of the Visiting Nurses Association for more than 10 years, the Bar Association of Monroe County, People’s Cable Company and several ski clubs. He has served on several committees, including fundraising for John F. Kennedy during his presidential election. He has also raised money for the Jewish Federation and the Cancer Research at Genesee Hospital. Levy is also active in the Rochester area Alumni Association.
