A talented, lifelong golfer, Patrick Bright was Syracuse City Junior Champion in 1944 and Onondaga Golf Club Senior Champion in 1995.
From 1945 to 1946, Pat served as a cryptographer in the Air Corps (ACS) Intelligence attached to the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm.
A leading Syracuse area businessman, Pat is currently chairman of Dunk & Bright Furniture and president of Dunk & Bright Furniture Leasing and D&B Industries. He is a pst president and chairman of the National Home Furnishings Association which honored him for outstanding service to the furniture industry. Pat is a former director of Chase Lincold Bank (1973-1993) and the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce.
Chair of the 1983 Syracuse Catholic Diocese Hope Appeal, Pat coordinated a $2 million fund raising effort. President of the Syracuse Housing Partnership from 1992-94, he spearheaded the building of 250 new homes and the remodeling of over 100 homes for Syracuse inner city low income families. Pat is a director of the Community Hospital Foundation, Syracuse Opera, Brighton Home Corporation, CNY Community Foundation and Catholic Charities. He is a trustee for the Syracuse Public Library and St. Ann's Parish Council and a regent at LeMoyne College. Pat was honored as 1975 Greater Syracuse Man of the Year by the Syracuse Herald Journal and was grand marshall of the 1986 St. Patrick's Day Parade. He is the recipient of Mayor Young's Achievement Award for Meritorious Service, the Syracuse Good Neighbor Award, the Monsignor Taylor Award, the Dr. Martin Luther King Drum Major Award, the Project Children Award as well as honors from the NAACP and Catholic Charities.
Former president of the St. Thomas More Foundation and recipient of the St. Thomas More Medal in 1990, Pat was a key leader in the development of the Alibrandi Catholic Center. He is a lifetime member of the Varsity Club and a box suite holder since the Carrier Dome opened in 1980. Pat has contributed to various University appeals as well as the Orange Pack and Ernie Davis Football Club.
