George R. Iocolano received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1947. He enteredSyracuse University after serving in the Air Corp for one year. Based in Texas , he played baseball before he was scheduled to join flight school. After Iocolano was honorably discharged from the Army after he tore cartilage in his knee at Shepard Field (TX), he returned to Syracuse and entered its acceleration program and graduated in 1947. While at Syracuse he was a member of the varsity baseball team. Upon graduation from SU he entered Albany Law School , graduating in September, 1949. After completing both degrees in 11 straight semesters, Iocolano passed the Bar examination and was admitted to practice in March, 1950, and has been practicing law in Auburn ever since. Iocolano is still very active in the community and competes in various competitions. He has run more than 38 marathons and 300 road races since his 50th birthday. He climbed Mt. Rainier and has also won the gold medals in tennis and running in the New York State Games. Iocolano is a very active member of his community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Cayuga County Cultural and Arts Council and the Board of Directors of the Skaneateles Savings Bank. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Byrd Library at Syracuse University . He has recently made major gifts to the Auburn YMCA and the Everest Family Club. Iocolano will always be remembered for his very generous gift for the football wing, which now bears the name of "Iocolano-Petty Football Wing". Iocolano has two sons. His son, David, graduated from Syracuse Law School , and his niece, Lisa Moore, is the Director of Major Gifts for the University.
