ORANGE HONORED AT BIG EAST BANQUET
Senior Cheryl Cobbina and Joscie Kaup were named to the BIG EAST Second Team at the tournament's annual banquet in Milwaukee, Wis. Orange head coach Jing Pu, in his 13th season with Syracuse and 18th overall, was acknowledged for collecting his 400th career coaching victory on October 27 against West Virginia.
VOLLEYBALL SEASON ENDS AT BIG EAST TOURNAMENT
Despite 10 kills apiece from senior Cheryl Cobbina, junior Brittany Kern and sophomore Kacie MacTavish, the Syracuse volleyball season came to an end following a three-game loss to top-seeded No. 21 Louisville in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament. Redshirt-junior April Quigley guided the Orange offense to a .259 attack percentage with a club-leading 34 assists. Senior Joscie Kaup, who donned the Orange for the final time with Cobbina, led the SU defense with a team-high 13 digs.

COBBINA NAMED BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Cheryl Cobbina was selected BIG EAST Player of the Week following her performances against non-conference opponents Colgate and Cornell, and BIG EAST foes West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Cobbina led the Orange offense with a team-best 63 kills and 4.50 kills per game. She joins fellow senior Joscie Kaup as the second Orange student-athlete to receieve the honor.

PU COLLECTS 400TH CAREER COACHING WIN
Orange head coach Jing Pu tallied his 400th career coaching victory with a 3-0 sweep at BIG EAST foe West Virginia. This marks the second coaching milestone for Pu after he tallied his 250th victory as the Syracuse mentor against Fordham on September 8, 2007.
ORANGE AIDS PLAYOFF PUSH WITH BIG EAST SWEEPS
Syracuse hit the road for the first time in nearly one month and came home winners of two critical BIG EAST matches. The Orange captured a three-game sweep at West Virginia on Saturday before sweeping Pittsburgh on Sunday. The two triumphs catapult the Orange into a three-way tie for the BIG EAST Tournament's fifth seed.
QUIGLEY RECEIVES HONOR ROLL ACCOLADES
Redshirt-junior April Quigley became the second SU volleyball player in two weeks and the fifth this season to recieve a BIG EAST weekly award. Quigley led the Orange with a 99 assists and a 12.38 assists per game average in a pair of 3-1 wins against Marquette and Long Island. Quigley joins Joscie Kaup, the BIG EAST's Player of the Week on September 3, and senior Cheryl Cobbina, sophomore Sarah Morton and freshman Mindy Stanislovaitis, who also received honor roll distinction, as this season's honored Orange.
ORANGE FINISH 6-2 IN SEASON-LONG HOMESTAND
The Orange closed out a season-long eight-match homestand on Tuesday with a pair of a 3-1 wins against non-conference foes Colgate and Cornell. Syracuse posted a 3-2 mark against BIG EAST opponents with wins against Georgetown, DePaul and Marquette. SU swept its non-conference slate with victories against the Red Raiders, Big Red and Long Island.
LUCKY NUMBER 7
With three straight wins against Long Island, Colgate and Cornell, Syracuse improved its record to a unbeaten 7-0 against teams from the state of New York. Prior to the successive 3-1 wins against the Blackbirds, Red Raiders and Big Red, SU tallied four three-game sweeps against Buffalo, Albany, Fordham and Binghamton. St. John's (11/3) and Siena (11/6) are the final two matches against Empire State foes in 2007.

COBBINA NAMED TO BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
Senior Cheryl Cobbina received BIG EAST Honor Roll distinction following her performances against DePaul and Notre Dame. Cobbina led the Orange offense with 30 kills and a 4.29 kills per game average against the Blue Demons and Fighting Irish. Cobbina posted her ninth double-double of the season against Notre Dame.
ORANGE BACK AT .500
The Orange evened its BIG EAST record at 4-4 following a critical 3-1 win against Marquette on Saturday. Senior Cheryl Cobbina paced the Syracuse attack with 19 kills while sophomore Kacie MacTavish totaled 18. Sophomore Sarah Morton buried 14 and led the Orange defense with five solo blocks. Redshirt-junior April Quigley guided the SU attack with 54 assists while senior Joscie Kaup collected a club-leading 15 digs.
EMPIRE STATE DOMINANCE
In non-conference action, Syracuse captured its fourth win in the last five outings with a 3-1 triumph against Long Island on Sunday. Senior Cheryl Cobbina’s tenth double-double of the season powered the Orange attack that totaled a .338 hitting clip. Sophomore Sarah Morton paired a career-best seven solo blocks with nine kills. Sophomore Kacie MacTavish and redshirt-junior April Quigley posted their 10th and seventh double-doubles of the season, respectively. Senior Joscie Kaup’s 14 digs led five SU players with at least 10 digs.

SENIOR LEADERSHIP: COBBINA, KAUP LEAD ORANGE
Senior Cheryl Cobbina powered the Orange offense with a team-best 13 kills while senior Joscie Kaup tallied a club-leading 13 digs as Syracuse posted a 3-0 sweep against DePaul. Sophomore Kacie MacTavish paired 11 kills with seven digs and redshirt-junior April Quigley added a team-best 27 helpers. Junior Brittany Kern and sophomore Sarah Morton tallied an identical six kills and five total blocks each. The Syracuse offense totaled a .343 attack percentage.
COBBINA PACES SU AGAINST NOTRE DAME
Senior Cheryl Cobbina's 17 kills led three Syracuse players with at least 15 kills as Notre Dame rallied for a 3-1 against the Orange. Sophomore Kacie MacTavish collected 16 kills and led the Orange with 18 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Cobbina paired her 17 kills with 11 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Redshirt-junio April Quigley tallied a team-high 54 assists and added 11 digs for her sixth double-double of the year. Senior Joscie Kaup collected 17 digs and sophomore Sarah Morton totaled five blocks.
KAUP COLLECTS 2,000TH DIG
Senior Joscie Kaup, who became the program's all-time leader in digs on September 1 against Akron, tallied the 2,000th dig of her Orange career against DePaul.
KAUP HONORED AS SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Senior Joscie Kaup, a triple major in broadcast journalism, political science and economics, was honored as the Syracuse Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Monday, October 8.

QUIGLEY POWERS ORANGE PAST HOYAS
Redshirt-junior April Quigley tallied a team-high 35 assists, added 12 digs and fell just shy of a triple-double with eight kills as the Orange snapped a three-match skid with a convincing 3-0 sweep against Georgetown. Senior Cheryl Cobbina posted a team-high 14 kills. Defensively, senior Joscie Kaup led SU with a team-high 20 digs while sophomore Sarah Morton collected five total blocks.
SOUTH FLORIDA SUBDUES THREE-HEADED ORANGE ATTACK
Senior Cheryl Cobbina, sophomore Kacie MacTavish and freshman Mindy Stanislovaitis each tallied a team-high 14 kills in the Orange's 3-2 loss against South Florida. Cobbina added 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. MacTavish collected 10 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Redshirt-junior April Quigley tallied a team-high 45 assists and added 11 digs for her fourth double-double. Senior Joscie Kaup matched Cobbina with a team-high 12 digs.

MORTON HONORED BY BIG EAST
Sophomore Sarah Morton received BIG EAST Honor Roll distinction for her performance in the Orange's three-game conference-opening win against Rutgers. Morton tallied 15 kills on just 19 attempts and collected a team-high six total blocks, including four solo, against the Scarlet Knights.
MacTAVISH LEADS ORANGE
Sophomore Kacie MacTavish paced the Orange offense with a team-high 11 kills in SU's 3-0 loss at Louisville. Sophomore Samantha Ainsworth tallied a team-best 22 assists and senior Joscie Kaup collected a club-best 14 digs against the Cardinals.
STANISLOVAITIS POSTS TEAM-HIGH
Freshman Mindy Stanisloavitis totaled a team-high 10 kills in Syracuse's 3-0 loss at Cincinnati. Senior Cheryl Cobbina and sophomore Kacie MacTavish each added seven kills. Sophomore Samantha Ainsworth recorded a team-high 30 assists and senior Joscie Kaup paced the SU backline with a team-best 11 digs.

ORANGE OPENS BIG EAST SCHEDULE IN VICTORIOUS FASHION
Sophomore Sarah Morton powered the Orange offense with a team-high 15 kills on just 19 total attacks as Syracuse began the BIG EAST schedule with a three-game sweep of Rutgers. Morton's .737 attack percentage was a season-best and just shy of her career-high of .750 that she set against West Virginia in 2006. Morton's six total blocks were also a club-best.
Sophomore Kacie MacTavish paired nine kills with eights digs and senior Cheryl Cobbina posted seven kills and eight digs. Redshirt-junior April Quigley collected a team-high 24 assists as the Orange opened the conference season with a 1-0 record for the first time since 2005.
SYRACUSE AT HOME
With Syracuse's 3-0 sweep against Rutgers, the Orange now boasts a perfect 6-0 record at home in 2007. The Orange is now 558-413-8 at home since 1980, including matches played at both Manley Field House and the Women's Building.

HIGH FIVE; SYRACUSE WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT
Behind a team-high 18 kills from senior Cheryl Cobbina, the Orange captured its fifth straight win and improved its record to 4-0 against teams from the state of New York following a 3-0 sweep against Binghamton. Syracuse collected its third three-game sweep in its last five victories and ended the Wildcats' 14-match home win streak that dated back to the 2005 season.
STREAK ENDS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE
Syracuse's season-high five-match win streak came to an end Friday afternoon following a narrow 3-2 loss against Southern Methodist in the opening round of the University of New Hampshire Tournament. Sophomore Kacie MacTavish led the Orange with 17 kills while redshirt-junio April Quigley tallied a team-high 45 assists. Senior Cheryl Cobbina collected her seventh double-double of the season after pairing 15 kills with a club-leading 17 digs.
ORANGE RESILIENCY
On several different occasions thus far in the 2007 season, Syracuse has shown an unmatched resiliency. Things were no different against New Hampshire after the Orange rallied from a two-game deficit before a dramatic loss in game five, 23-21. Sophomore Kacie MacTavish powered the SU offense with her seventh double-double of the season (19 kills, 12 digs). Junior Brittany Kern collected a season-best 14 kills and redshirt-junior April Quigley posted her third double-double of the season, and second in as many days, with 43 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Sarah Morton led the SU front-line with a team-best 10 total blocks.
SU BACK ON WINNING TRACK, STANISLOVAITIS HONORED
Freshman Mindy Stanislovaitis tallied eight kills and received all-tournament recognition after the Orange snapped its brief two-game slide with a resounding three-game sweep against Holy Cross. Syracuse's 30-11 win in game two was the club's largest margin of victory in a single game this season. Sophomore Kacie MacTavish led the Orange attack with a team-best 11 kills. Sophomore Shanetha McLaurin set a personal-high with 17 digs.
COBBINA EARNS SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Senior Cheryl Cobbina, majoring in english education, has been named Syracuse's Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of September 17. Cobbina currently ranks eighth on SU's all-time career kills list with 1,132 in three-plus seasons.

ORANGE SWEEPS ALBANY, 3-0
Sophomore Kacie MacTavish collected a team-high 14 kills and redshirt-junior April Quigley tallied 41 assists as the Orange swept in-state rival Albany, 3-0. Senior Cheryl Cobbina and freshman Mindy Stanislovaitis each posted 11 kills. Senior Joscie Kaup led the Orange defensive support with a team-best 17 digs.
KAUP TABBED BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After becoming Syracuse’s all-time career digs leader against Akron, Kaup was selected the BIG EAST Player of the Week. Kaup tallied a team-high 83 digs and a 5.93 digs per game average as the Orange posted a 2-2 mark on the week. In the season’s home-opener against Buffalo, Kaup tallied a team-high 14 digs as Syracuse swept the Bulls, 3-0. Her team-high 29 digs led SU to a win against Wright State at the Sheraton Hilton Invitational.
MACTAVISH NAMED BIG ORANGE TOURNAMENT MVP
MacTavish, the Big Orange Tournament MVP, collected three double-doubles last week against Albany (12K, 14D), Princeton (19K, 13D) and Fordham (12K, 11D). She now has six for the season.
KAUP RECEIVES ALL-TOURNAMENT DISTINCTION
Kaup, the BIG EAST’s reigning Player of the Week, received Big Orange All-Tournament honors. Kaup led the Orange in digs in three of the weeks four matches, including 25 against Fordham.

SYRACUSE OPENS 2007 HOME SCHEDULE WITH 3-0 WIN AGAINST BUFFALO
Senior Cheryl Cobbina posted a team-high 15 kills and sophomore Samantha Ainsworth added 22 assists in Syracuse's 2007 home-opener 3-0 win against Buffalo. Senior Joscie Kaup led the Orange with 14 digs while sophomore Kacie MacTavish added 10 kills.
ORANGE TALLIES 1-2 FINISH AT SHERATON HILTON INVITATIONAL
The Syracuse volleyball team captured one of three matches over the weekend at the Sheraton Hilton Invitational with its win coming against Wright State. Cobbina led the Orange charge with a team-high 25 kills while adding 18 digs. MacTavish paired 21 kills with 22 digs. Kaup paced the Syracuse defense with a team-best 29 digs.
JOSCIE KAUP CROWNED SYRACUSE ALL-TIME DIGS LEADER
Kaup's 19 digs against Akron raised her career total to 1,806 and eclipsed former SU player Rachel Watson's (1996-99) all-time mark of 1,791. Kaup leads the Orange with a team-high 150 digs and a 5.77 digs per game average.
MACTAVISH EARNS ALL-TOURNAMENT DISTINCTION
After tallying 39 kills, a 3.55 kills per game average and 42 digs, MacTavish was named to the Sheraton Hilton Invitational All-Tournament team. MacTavish ranks second on the Syracuse team with 81 kills, a 3.12 kills per game average and 106 digs.
COBBINA IS THE ORANGE CATALYST
Senior Cheryl Cobbina led the Orange attack at the Sheraton Hilton Invitational after collecting 55 kills and an even 5.00 kills per game average. In five of the season’s seven matches, Cobbina has led the Syracuse offense in kills. Cobbina has also tallied at least 10 kills and 10 digs in five of the team’s seven matches. The senior ranks first on the Orange with 114 kills, a 4.38 kills per game average and 322 total attacks.
ORANGE DEBUTS
Freshmen Sarah Hayes, Mindy Stanislovaitis and Hayley Todd each made their Syracuse volleyball debut last week. Hayes tallied one service aces in her first action with the Orange while Stanislovaitis and Todd figured into the Syracuse attack quite frequently. Against Buffalo, Stanislovaitis and Todd combined to bury nine kills in the win.

ORANGE OPENS SEASONS WITH WIN
Behind a career-high 19 kills from sophomore middle blocker Sarah Morton, Syracuse posted a 3-1 win against Gardner-Webb at the InnTowner Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. Head coach Jing Pu improved to 11-2 in season-opening matches during his 13-year tenure at Syracuse.
NEW SINGLE-MATCH RECORDS
In a close 3-2 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, senior Cheryl Cobbina's 73 attacks and senior Joscie Kaup's 40 digs set new Syracuse single-match (five game) records. Cobbina's attack output is the most in program history since Andrea Carson tallied 67 attacks against Maryland in 1990. Kaup eclipsed her own previous mark of 33 digs against Pittsburhg in 2006.
KAUP RECEIVES ALL-TOURNAMENT HONORS
After tallying 67 digs and a 5.58 digs per game average, Kaup received InnTowner Invitational All-Tournament honors.
