Kristin Brady, Sr., Attack
On preseason:
"Preseason is always a long five weeks and it was exciting to play Princeton and Boston College this weekend. We are ready to get into the season."
On the difference in preseason compared to other years:
"The preseason is not that much different in the sense that everyday you are just building and you really want to keep improving. It is hard to see where you are at until you are tested by another opponent, so we are glad to finally get that chance."
On head coach Gary Gait:
"He has a great approach to the game. We are going to have a high-powered offense and a good solid defense. We're going to do some different things this year."
On high expectations:
"There are just because last year was the first time in school history to make it to the elite eight and winning the BIG EAST Championship. We knew there would be high expectations but we are happy about it. We are definitely ready."
On feelings about the season opener:
"We really want to get going, we are so excited. There is a lot of energy in practice and we just cannot wait to take it out on another team."
Liz Hogan, Fr., Goalkeeper
On the pressure of being the starting goalie as a freshman:
"It is a decent amount of pressure to have the whole team on my shoulders. At the same time I know my defense is there for me and if I miss a goal I am okay with it."
On goalie coach Maggie Koch:
"She has been a great help. She has been keeping me calm and getting me prepared for the faster shots and the faster games."
On what she and Koch have worked on:
"The biggest thing we have worked on is my communication, coming up from the high school game it is such a big difference. I really have to control my defense here and that is probably the biggest aspect she has worked on with me."
On her relationship with the defense:
"It has grown a lot since the beginning of the fall. This fall I had no idea who they were, but now we are really close and have really bonded."
Christina Dove, So., Attack
On Coach Gait's play like a champion motto:
"It is starting to set in. We are starting to take on the personality of a champion day in and day out, just coming to practice focused and hopefully that is something we can take into the games as well."
On expectations for the season:
"We're not expecting anything specific; we just want to come out hard. We had a great year last year and we are just looking to build on that and get better every game."
Katie Rowan, Jr., Attack
On preseason scrimmages:
"This weekend we played Princeton and Boston College and it was really nice to get out on the open field."
On what was learned in preseason scrimmages:
"We learned what worked well and then we take what we didn't do so well, learn from it, and put it into tomorrow's game."
On what worked in preseason scrimmages:
"Overall our seven versus seven defense and attack worked really well. It was different getting out on the full field so we were just looking to improve on the midfield area."
Christina Gibson, Sr., Defense
On leaving preseason:
"We are so excited. We're ready to go. We have practiced hard. We've worked hard through fall. In preseason Coach Gait has taught us a lot and we are ready to put it to good use."
On tomorrow's game:
"Tomorrow is going to great, we are going to come out and show you some new things, show you some new defenses and mix it up a little bit. Our attack is going to be freelancing and we're just going to get at it, up and down the field."
On high expectations:
"I wouldn't say that there is more to improve, there is just a lot to build upon. We set a standard last year and we just need to keep going. We are looking to set more records and just set the tempo for every game."
On Coach Gait's play like a champion motto:
"That is our new motto, play like a champion, be like a champion on the field and off the field. That is really going to transcend through every aspect of the game."
Bridget Hamm, Jr., Midfield
On freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan:
"It gives us a lot of confidence in her knowing that she is going to make the save, and knowing that she is going to start us off making a good solid clear. If we just play good solid defense and allow them to take bad angle shots we have complete confidence that she can make the save."
On what Coach Gait has brought to the defensive end:
"He changed things up all for the better. He gives us really good tips and really great advice on how to play awesome defense and it has really only made us better."
On any unique tricks Coach Gait has brought to defense:
"Defense is pretty much straight forward. No matter what, Coach Gait is always encouraging us to take chances and so in that aspect he has been great."
On taking defensive risks in game situations:
"It definitely takes some adjusting, he is so encouraging to take risks but then when you get in a game you realize it is more important and means more than just in practice. If we just keep trying I know we will be successful and we will start to get more comfortable with it."
