Coach Desko Postgame Quotes
Syracuse vs. Princeton
Saturday, April 5, 2008
Carrier Dome/Syracuse, N.Y.
On Brendan Loftus’ play:
“It’s great that Brendan has had success because I can use him as an example of how hard work pays off. He’s here before practice, stays after practice, never misses the weight room, he goes to his classes. I really love it when a guy like this does well because I can point to him when giving an example for the younger players on the team.”
On the team’s versatility:
“I think what we’re seeing this year is that our guys are healthly. We’re all together every week. It seems that every week somebody else is stepping up. [Brendan] Loftus today, [Dan] Hardy and [Pat] Perritt last week. I think it’s real good to have the depth there, especially in the midfield. It’s good to have a one-two punch when you stretch people out with your outside shooting. It also helps to be able to shoot it and be able to finish it on the inside too.”
On being ranked No.1:
“It feels very good, for now. But we have a big game on Tuesday in Cornell. We have to go down there prepared, and knowing how they play, so we can take care of the ball and get after them.”
On the defense:
“I see it being a good thing. To see their hard work payoff, it’s a great reward seeing a team like Princeton being kept to six goals and us keeping their guys under double figures. I think the defense is playing real well. John [Galloway] is doing a great job of getting the ball out. A lot of good things are happening on the defensive side and it’s really helping our offense as well.”
