Schoedel First Practice
Sophomore Goaltender - Lucy Schoedel
How’d the first practice feel?
First practice was awesome. We worked hard and coach runs a great practice. I think we’re getting ready.
How does it feel being closer to home (Ithaca, N.Y)? (Schoedel transferred from the University of New Hampshire)
It’s awesome! I can go home and see my parents if I want to and my brother came up and visited me last weekend. It’s a lot different than being seven and half hours away.
How cool is it to be the first team?
Oh, it’s fun. It’s a lot of hard work. It’s not going to be easy, but we’re all ready and we’re all excited to do it.
What about Coach Flanagan made you want to come here?
He’s just a great guy. You can look him in the eye, he’ll look you back and you can just tell he’s honest.
With this being the inaugural season, what are your real expectations heading into this season?
We’re just going to work hard and make the best of it. We don’t have anything set up yet and we don’t have anything to compare ourselves to. We’re just going to compete with ourselves until we compete with other people.
What was attractive about coming her to Syracuse?
Everything! A chance to get back on the ice and represent my hometown.
Do you feel a lot of pressure with this being the first season in your role as the goalie?
Yeah, but there’s also kind of less pressure because I know what’s expected of me. I know exactly what I need to do. So, there’s not the question of ’What do I need to do to fulfill my role on the team?’ It’s kind of all laid out for me.
