Ange Bradley NCAA Quotes
On why the first game is always the hardest:
"It's the unknown. You prepare for it all week. The next game, you have less than 24 hours to turn around and play. It's just a matter of going after it the next game. There are very few adjustments you can make. The first game of the tournament is always the toughest."
On whether she knew how the bracket would end up:
"My assistant Guy is an actuary by trait. When we brought him over from Scotland, that's what his profession was. They always do number and probabilities. He's really good at figuring it out. We had most of it pretty close. We thought we'd be going to Princeton or Maryland after losing in the BIG EAST Tournament. We pretty much lost our opportunity to host at home."
On the reaction after seeing Connecticut in the Maryland bracket:
"It wasn't relief, it was just kind of funny for us to be able to go to Princeton and have the opportunity to play Boston College, a team that we lost to just two weeks ago. How often do you get the chance to play a team that you lost to again in the same season? If we can get a result against Boston College and play either Stanford, which would be a completely new opponent for us, or Princeton, a team that we lost to very early on in overtime. You couldn't ask for a better situation and it's going to be tough because Boston College is coming from the best conference in the country – the ACC."
On having the opportunity to play two teams they lost to in the regular season:
"It's exciting. You can see if you can learn from your mistakes and be able to get a different outcome. I feel very fortunate to have that opportunity to be able to get back and have an opportunity to play against BC. They're a very good team."
On what the team took from the BIG EAST Championship loss:
"We can't doubt ourselves. We had a 35 minute lapse in that game, and we were still in a position to win it. Those 35 minutes you can never get back. This is it for us. We have one opportunity against BC. We have 70 minutes. If it takes more than 70, we have to do it. Like you heard the Maryland coach say, you have to stay in the present. It's so true. It's all about what's right now before us."
On Boston College:
"BC has a very strong penalty corner unit. The senior Chelsea Field has a very nice drag flick and we have to prepare our goalkeepers and our corner defense for that during the week. They're very tough defenders. They played Wake Forest back-to-back and us. They're a very great team coming from a great league."
