Boeheim St. Francis Quotes
Coach Boeheim Postgame
Syracuse vs. St. Francis (N.Y.)
December 13, 2009
Syracuse, N.Y. – Carrier Dome
"The second half we were more active. On defense, we only forced three turnovers the first half. They slowed it down and they did a good job of spreading us out. We weren't as active -- coming off a game like Thursday (against Florida) -- that's normal. We made a few mistakes on offense in the first half. Second half we got off and got started, got the ball in the right positions and made a couple shots. You're going to have a little bit of a drop if you come off a game like Thursday. It's going to be difficult to come back to that same level, but it is a good lesson for the defense. We haven't been as aggressive as we have been in forcing turnovers. We got a lot of opportunity to get some guys in there and get the feel for the game and that's good for us.
On inside play of Rick Jackson and Arinze Onuaku
"Well we have a huge advantage in there. The one thing we are doing is looking for that (the post players) and that's a good thing."
On Arinze Onuaku's injury progress
"Well he is doing alright. I think he is pain free, he has some problems some days but I think overall he is making some progress. That's good."
On playing time for non-starters
"It is good for them to get some experience, get an opportunity to see what they can do and what they need to work on. That's always good."
On time before the next game
"We get a week. We have a lot of academic things this week. We have to make sure we have a gap of time. We have to keep our conditioning and we have to keep working. We only have a couple games over the next few of weeks until we get ready for the league. We have to work at really good practice times and keep our edge. We have two good games in between and get ready for conference play. The whole key in non-conference play is to get as much out of it as we can. We need to continue doing that over these next couple of weeks. We have two more non-conference games. We have to use that to help us get better."
On the team
"We played well together. We had 24 assists again tonight -- everyone has been very unselfish, looking for each other. We work hard and we are getting better, we just have to keep improving. We played just the first part of the season and we have a long way to go. The bottom line is we have to get better."
