How much has the program improved from your freshman year up to your senior year?
“This program has grown a lot. We have come a long way, but we still have a ways to go. We have been in the NIT two years in a row. What we want to be is an NCAA Tournament team. We want to win the whole thing. We’re here to win a national championship.”
You have been to the NIT the last two years. What does this team need to do to get back to the NCAA Tournament?
“We need to play as unit, play defense, rebound and do the ‘little things.’ We have the talent. We just need to rebound and take care of the ball and we will be fine.”
When you came in as a freshman, the team was coming off of a disappointing season. What were your expectations going into your freshman year compared to what they are now?
“My expectations haven’t changed. Every year, we want to win a national championship. That’s what we are here for and that’s why we are in the BIG EAST. It is one of the toughest conferences in the country and we are here to compete every night.”
What’s it been like to play with Erica Morrow?
“It’s been great. I played with her before I got here so I knew what I was getting into. It’s been the same. It’s fun playing with Erica (Morrow).”
How have you and Erica Morrow grown as teammates over the last four years?
“We have grown a lot. Our basketball IQ has gotten higher. We know the game better than we did when we got in here. The chemistry has gotten better and it’s just great to play with her.”
How much did it help you coming into the program having played with Erica Morrow before college?
“It makes the whole process transitioning from high school to college a lot easier because you know you have someone to depend on. Knowing Erica (Morrow) before made the transition to college a lot easier for me.”
What is it like playing for Coach Hillsman?
“It’s good to play for Coach Hillsman. On the court he gives it all he has. It’s easy to play knowing exactly what a coach wants. He wants you to go hard every second and every time you step on the floor.”
What are your expectations this year personally and for the team?
“I’m going to do whatever my team needs me to do for us to win. My expectation for the team is to win a national championship. That is the mindset I came in here with and that is the mindset I am going to leave with.”
