Coach Izzo Quotes
Michigan State Spartans vs. Syracuse Orange
December 7, 2010
Madison Square Garden
Head Coach Tom Izzo
Michigan State University
On the loss:
“I did not feel that we came ready to play. On the inside we let them dominate us on the boards. We turned into a pretty-boy jump shooting team instead of the blue collar fist-fighting team. We got beat because Jim’s (Boeheim) team played a lot harder, played a lot more physical, played a lot better. We missed some shots, and we missed some free throws. We had our share of ridiculous turnovers but still had some chances and just didn’t do the job when we could have. I feel like the New York Jets.
On Thomas Robinson:
“Our guys inside were not covering anybody…13 for 15 (in the paint) that should solely go on me because the team doesn’t play hard enough, tough enough, that’s the coach’s fault. One way or another I am going to fix that.”
On the experience:
“It was a great atmosphere. I credit the Garden, New York, our fans, and to their fans. I thought it was as good a buzz as I ever seen here for any games that I played in and we laid an egg.”
