Al Cady III, 1965 (Lacrosse)

A 1965 graduate of Syracuse University, Alfred M. Cady III played men's lacrosse for three years for the Orange. Cady, who earned his bachelor's degree in history in 1965, was named most dedicated player for the 1965 season. He was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Cady graduated from the Naval Officer Candidate School in February 1966 and was commissioned as Ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, including the Mobile Riverine Assault Force in the Mekong Delta and aboard the USS Princeton LPH-5 off-shore.
In 1978 Cady became vice president of consumer and small business marketing for Control Data Corporation. In 1983 he was instrumental in starting a joint venture with TMP Inc., the largest recruitment and yellow pages agency in the world. In 1993, TMP Worldwide acquired Monster.com. At the time of his retirement in 2000, Cady was the division president for TMP Worldwide, which has since been renamed Monster Worldwide. Monster.Com is currently one of the top 20 most widely recognized web sites in the world.
Cady is actively involved in the community, serving as a volunteer basketball and football coach. He also has served on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations, including the University of Minnesota Children's Cancer Research Fund, which has raised more than $15 million to find a cure for childhood cancers through research, and Camp Dudley in Westport, N.Y., a YMCA affiliate which is the oldest boys' camp in the United States and is currently fundraising to establish a "sister-camp" for girls.
