Professional Workouts
Please remind student-athletes, following initial full-timeÂ
collegiate enrollment, a student-athlete who has eligibilityÂ
remaining may try out with a professional athletics teamÂ
(or participate in a combine including that team) at anyÂ
time, provided the student-athlete does not miss class. TheÂ
student-athlete may receive actual and necessary expenses inÂ
conjunction with one 48-hour tryout per professional team (or aÂ
combine including that team). The 48-hour tryout period shallÂ
begin at the time the individual arrives at the tryout location.Â
At the completion of the 48-hour period, the student-athleteÂ
must depart the location of the tryout immediately in order toÂ
receive return transportation expenses. A tryout may extendÂ
beyond 48 hours if the student-athlete self-finances additionalÂ
expenses, including return transportation. A self-financedÂ
tryout may be for any length of time, provided the individualÂ
does not miss class.
During a tryout, a student-athlete may not take part in anyÂ
outside competition (games or scrimmages) as a representativeÂ
of a professional team.Â
Note: In basketball, a student-athlete may accept actualÂ
and necessary travel, and room and board expenses from aÂ
professional sports organization to attend that organization’sÂ
basketball draft combine regardless of the duration of the camp.
