Elon Head Coach Quotes
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Elon
November 21, 2015
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Elon Head Coach Matt Matheny
Obviously it was a tough first half, and you hung in there early second half. What did you see as the difference?
“I thought we had some great stretches. We took some steps forward tonight. We defended a little bit better than we have been. I thought we did a pretty good job of playing against some challenging and lengthy zones -- the best zone I’ve ever seen on film. It showed to be a very challenging zone to play against. We weren’t surprised by that. We were aggressive in nature, offensively.”
What strikes you most about the Syracuse zone?
“They have great length. They’re very good at covering the passing lanes. Not only do they have good length, but they use it very well. They’re very good at reading and anticipating the next look, so they make that challenging. They trap down at the baseline and cover up the easy passes.”
What impressed you the most about Tyler Roberson?
“I thought he played very well. He played hard, and he was in and around the basket. He was very active around the glass and high around the rim. He had a great game.”
