Conference play isn’t quite here yet, but especially with the last three games and play on the glass, is there a little more sense of urgency that those plays may catch up to you when you play bigger teams?
“Oh yeah, absolutely. We have to finish the non-conference pretty strong. We have to use the non-conference to get ready for ACC play. That sense of urgency is definitely picking up, especially when we get into conference play”.
The last two games has seen two different styles of rebounding. What was it about Colgate, other than they are obviously much smaller and physically imposing team?”
“They had a lot of perimeter guys out there shooting the ball and after the shot, ran up and we tried to basically use our bodies and use our quickness and guide them into small spaces and carved out some rebounds.”
How do you make up for that, rather than covering guys you cover space, how do you compensate for that?
“You just kind of have to determine where the shot is coming from and kind of just play the percentages. Where the shots coming from, what side, typically the odds are its going to bounce to the other side and it’s kind of a guessing game where the balls going to go.”
Tyler Lydon , Freshman, Forward
How do you find a team like Colgate, a little smaller, less physical as compared to a team like Georgetown and the physicality of a game and the impact of that and your approach?”
“We obviously knew we had a size advantage on them so we tried to get the ball inside to DaJuan (Coleman) and Tyler (Roberson) and be strong down there. And it was definitely a different type of game than Georgetown.”
Out of 25 three’s they hit 10, how do you guys adjust going forward?
“We just have to get in and play good defense. Moving forward, when I was out there I was taking too long to get to the shooters so it’s just small things like that, small adjustments.”
What does the ability of the pick and pop add to your offense?
“I think it gives us the ability to move the floor better. If I’m popping then obviously the guys going to stick on me so Frank (Howard), Kaleb (Joseph), whoever it is they have a lane open to go.”
Malachi Richardson, Freshman, Forward
What was working for you guys?
“Just today we made shots today, got going a little bit. Our defense was just a little bit better today. I think we were gapping and penetrating the ball and we were just making shots today.”
What have the days been like since Georgetown? What have you guys done to bounce back from those two losses?
“We just practiced. We just stayed with what we normally do. Practiced hard, stayed after, got a lot extra shots in, worked on our defense and looked at a lot of film. We were locked in today.”
