Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Clemson
January 5, 2016
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Trevor Cooney, Graduate Student, Guard
What are your thoughts on tonight's game?
“We had it and then we just couldn’t finish. It’s a tough one because we had the game. We played well and towards the end, you just have to get stops. It’s a big learning lesson for us tonight.”
Clemson’s turnover gave you a chance for the win. Can you talk about the play?
“We got the steal, it got tipped around, and I had a great look for the win. I just left it short.”
Mike Gbinije, Graduate Student, Guard
How hard do you think this was on Coach Hopkins?
“It’s tough. He got a shot at being the head coach and I think he is going to be a successful head coach. I am not too worried about him and I know he will be energized in practice coming up. I thought he did a good job with us, it just didn’t work out.”
Tyler Lydon, Freshman, Forward
Coach Boeheim is obviously a big voice and I wonder if it’s just human nature that when you lose that voice it’s impossible to switch gears mid-season. Do you think you guys lost anything at all during his time away?
“No, I don’t think so. I think Coach Hopkins is a great leader and he’s a great coach so I don’t really think anything has changed as far as the team’s atmosphere.”
Clemson hurt you a lot inside. What were they doing?
“They were just getting to the rim. They are aggressive players. Early on, when I came in the game, I was giving them too many good angles. Defensively, it was my fault. I felt like I picked it up a bit during the game. It’s just one of those things you have to work on.”
