Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Florida State
February 11, 2016
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Mike Gbinije, Graduate Student, Guard
You guys were making a lot of extra passes, but it looked like it worked this time. Was that a focus today?
“Yeah, everybody touched the rock today. I think we got a good assist ratio tonight. We got it going on the inside and outside, which is important.”
Sometimes you guys play three games right in a row and then have some time off, which you need, but you had the confidence to get back out there. How was it playing the mental game?
“I think our coaching staff did a good job with that. They made sure we got up and played the same time we would if there wasn’t a break, so we attacked that the right way.”
DaJuan Coleman, Senior, Center
With the string of tough home games, what was it like to get a definitive home win tonight?
“It was good. We want to take care of our home territory and we did well so now we’re ready for the next one.”
Was there something that coach said or that you thought about at halftime?
“That was just me. I knew I had to pick it up. I missed a couple cheap layups so I knew I had to pick it up.”
Tyler Lydon, Freshman, Forward
You guys scored a lot of points today, but no one pushed the ball. Was it all about defense?
“Yeah, definitely. (Coach) made that a definite point to get down on shooters. We had that 13-point lead, I think, in the first half and he obviously wouldn’t have been happy with us blowing that so he definitely wanted us to come out and be strong on defense.”
Were the changes on defense in the second half more technical or more physical?
“It was being more aggressive, being more aware of where everyone’s at on the floor. Just little details like that.”
