Coach Boeheim said the play of the game was at the end there when you found Paschal [Chukwu]. What did you see on that play?
“Paschal has been doing a great job all week. He and Bourama [Sidibe] have been attacking the rim. We’ve been working on that all week. I knew they’d be ready, so I just wanted to put it where I knew he could get it and finish. He did a good job of that today.”
Wake Forest cut that 14-point lead to two today. What does it say about this team this late in the year that you guys can weather that storm and pull out the win?
“Yeah they hit 9-of-10 in that stretch (3-point shots), which is crazy. They hit some big shots, even at the end there. But all night we did a good job moving. We understood the game plan. We executed. That's just our mentality down the stretch.”
You guys have NC State next. What stands out about the Wolfpack?
“I don’t know too much about them just yet, but I know they’re dangerous. We know that every game in this conference isn’t going to be easy. We are going to be focused and ready to play. We just have to try to contain them and keep them out of the lane. We just need to execute on the offensive end.”
Tyus Battle, So., G
What does this game say about the team right now sitting at 6-6 in the ACC?
“We are in the best conference in the country so 6-6 is still pretty good. We just need to get a couple more wins and try to make this tournament push.”
What’s the feeling out there when the 14-point lead shrinks to two?
“I’m so used to it I’m not even surprised anymore. We’ve done that to so many teams because that’s just the way the game goes. We just have to keep on playing. It's a game of runs. That’s the truth.”
What did you think of Paschal Chukwu and Bourama Sidibe today?
“They’re playing well. They had some big blocks and some big rebounds. They limited Wake Forest’s shots around the rim. Wake Forest just killed us with three’s. I thought they played pretty good.”
Oshae Brissett, Fr., F
It was your first double-double in a while against a big team. What was it in your game that you saw that helped you find that consistency?
“I feel like I was just moving a lot more today. The past couple games I’ve been standing but these guys are a lot taller. I was just using my foot speed and trying to get around them. I was trying to angle myself and position myself for the rebounds. It was my first ACC double-double so I’m pretty excited.”
You guys are logging big time minutes. Where are you trying to steal breaks to catch your breath on both ends?
“I don’t feel like this far in the season that it’s a problem anymore. Everyone on this team plays a lot of minutes. We don’t really come out. As a player you find ways to catch your breath. We have a timeout every four minutes. You go hard into those timeouts, sit down, get a drink, get refocused, and go back in and play hard for those next four minutes. I feel like everyone on the team knows when to take a break but not ruin the flow of the game.”
