 Kueth Duany had nine second-half points, including four free throws in the final 25 seconds, to lead Syracuse to a 64-63 victory at Rutgers.   Â
The Orangemen were ahead by 15 points, 75-42, with 9:21 remaining in the contest before the hosts mounted a furious charge. Rutgers scored 16 unanswered points, including eight by Todd Billet, to go ahead by one with 3:01 left in the game. Syracuse stopped the streak on a baseline three-pointer by DeShaun Williams at the 1:59 mark. The Orangemen held on for the triumph as Duany made all four of his charity tosses. A last-second layup by the Scarlet Knights left the final difference at one, 64-63.   Â
Preston Shumpert helped Syracuse to an 11-point margin the first half, tallying nine of SU’s first 30 markers. His three-pointer put the Orangemen up 30-19 with 5:25 on the clock. The Scarlet Knights narrowed the advantage to six points by the intermission but Syracuse busted out of the lockerroom with an 11-2 run capped by a three-pointer from Williams.   Â
Duany led five Orangemen in double figures with a career-high 16 points. Damone Brown had 10 points, 10 rebounds and a career-best six blocked shots.   Â
