Allen Griffin posted SU’s first triple-double since 1996 and led the Orangemen in an 80-69 victory against Pittsburgh at the Dome.
In his final regular-season home game, Griffin posted 14 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Classmate Damone Brown added his 14th double-double of the campaign with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Syracuse led by as many as 19 points in the opening half before settling into a 38-22 spread at the intermission.
The Orangemen opened the second half on a 25-12 run to build their largest lead of the game, 27 points (63-36), with just over 11:30 left on the clock. Brown posted 11 points in the eight and-a-half minute stretch.
SU did not allow Pittsburgh within 10 points for the duration of play.
Preston Shumpert scored 19 points, the 25th double-digit effort of his season.
Kueth Duany came off the bench to contribute 13 points, including a career-high five field goals. Billy Celuck added eight rebounds and six points .
The victory gave the Orangemen a regular season sweep of Pittsburgh. It extended to seven a streak of SU victories against the Panthers.
