Former Orange standout Bruce Williams returned to his alma mater in 2010 as a strength and conditioning coordinator for the field hockey team and shifted to the student-athlete academic support services department in 2011. As a graduate assistant in academic support, Williams assisted with the preparation of academic reports, mentored football student-athletes and supervised study sessions. In 2012, Williams was promoted to his current role of academic coordinator where he arranges objective-based study table sessions, coordinates tutor appointments, and assists with eligibility procedures and mid-year certification.

In July 2011, Williams served as the assistant director and football coordinator of the Youth Impact Program, designing a program curriculum for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade boys from the Syracuse City School District. The program included both classroom work and life skills sessions before concluding with full contact football practices.Â

A native of Syracuse, Williams is active in the community. He worked in the summer programs for children at the Southwest Community Boys and Girls Club and was an active participant in the ‘Cuse Cares program while he was a member of the football program.

A free safety for the Orange, Williams earned three letters and was a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. He earned a bachelor’s degree in child and family studies in 2009 and completed his master’s degree in instructional design, development and evaluation in 2012.

He has one daughter, Helena Elizabeth Williams.
